How To Beat A Donk Calling Station?

Alright I wanted some feedback on how I should change my play against a certain player at a home game I play at all the time. We usually play 1-2 NL and I usually buy in for $100 when we first start, if I bust out of that I'm buying in for $200 easily. Last week I cashed out $1625 crazy enough. But there is always this donk that plays that I just don't know how to play against him. Alright I figured out his tell. His tell is that if he preflop raises he will bet the hand like its the nuts and usually wont give up. Alright here are a few examples of some hands.I get [A][8]o/s and he preflop raises to $10 I call. Flop comes [10][4][2] he bets I call, turn comes [10] he bets I call, river comes a [K] he CHECKS I check and he throws up [K][9] and takes down the pot. Now I think I should of def raised him on the turn I honestly felt like I had the best hand. This player usually raises weird combination of hands, like k9 q9 j9 a8 junk stuff.Okay here is another hand I get [8][9] he raises preflop again I call, flop comes out [9][4][3] he just goes all in for $100 I call (because us normally does this with AQ AJ) and sure enough he had [A][Q], turn comes an [A] river blank he wins. Like its so sick how he catches all the time.Alright for the third hand. I have [8][3] in the big blind and he raises to $10 again so its $8 more to me and nobody called, so I decided to see a flop, ya I know junk hand but at this point I'm just fed up with this guy's luck and Im pretty sure I know what he has. Flop comes out [K][8][5] I check he bets I call, turn comes [9] he shoves all in for $110 I call, river comes [3] I show two pair he looks disgusted and shows his hand [Q][9], which is actually pretty sick because he had me beat on the turn which I thought he missed with ace high.Alright so this player is a donk. He has only cashed out once, he wins a lot and than donks off all his chips. One hand I will always remember playing against him is the following hand [J][J] PREFLOP I raise to $18 in a 1-2 game he CALLS we go heads up, flop comes [K][4][5] I bet $45 he calls turn brings backdoor heart draw, I shove for $180!!!!!! he thinks for about 2-5 minutes and goes "alright I call" and shows [J][4] of hearts and hits the heart on the river, so sick. He calls with any draw its so disgusting. So how should I change my play against him and dominate his donkyness? He is an easy player to trap BIG HANDS against.

Don't call him with Ace high. Wait for a better hand... let him protect his pre-flop bets.. wait until you get the nuts!Be patient.

This player definitely seems more LAG than LPA or TPA so I wouldn't be saying he's a calling station. In fact, he only called in one of the hands you posted.How does this player react to reraises? Does he ever 3 barrel? The default strategy as many posters have already said is to just be more patient with hands. You got the money in good in 3 of 4 hands, (though you probably only should've been in 2 of them at most). Basically just look to flop top pair or better. If he folds to reraises, you might consider to start reraising him light and if he calls reraises you might consider raising lighter than you normally would. But your main source of $$ will come from the times he doesn't suck out.

QFT.To the OP: Just because villain is overly LAG doesn't mean you need to try and win EVERY pot from him. If you're going to call down his bets with ace high (when you "know" it's the best of the two holdings) you should be raising, and not calling, because then he hits his cards. Play tighter; you shouldn't be calling raises OOP with a hand like 8-3 just to "see a flop". Tighten up, and trap the **** out of him when you pick up a big hand. Don't try to outplay him every hand, you'll get FPS and lose a ton of money.

Just dont get involved without good hands when hes involved is what I would suggest, and when you do get hands play it scared and set traps, induce him to bluff you all in or if he dosnt raise back then just put pressure on him by playing big pot poker.

you played the A8 hand kind of bad. first off, don't call with A8preflop. Second, why not raise flop and fold to a reraise or shutdown incase of a call? Anyways, as to the actual question...he doesn't sound like he adjusts to different players and so you should just play your hands when you play him. Call lighter and don't bet when he checks the river after betting flop and turn when you have a marginal hand.

That, my friend....is one of the most frustrating parts about poker... and you have to be able to understand that and not lose your cool if you lose a hand to someone like that. No matter where you play....whether it's a casino or a home game....there's always a fish like that at the table that will play any two cards. Now...most of the time if you get your chips in with the best hand...you will beat him. However...since this is poker....anything can happen and when that person starts hitting their draws and getting lucky...look out. Overall though, if you keep your cool, avoid tilting and play solidly....you will definitely beat that kind of player in the long run.
