  1. They sure do know their dark liquor in places like Kentucky and Tennessee, don't they.
  2. Well damn, maybe I oughta stop by sometime then.Been drinking a lot of Knob Creek lately. I know it's no Woodford's, but does it meet your approval?
  3. Yeah, Norm, now that the weather's warming up again, when are we getting a gaggle of Army-types and getting shit-canned out on the lake again? That was fun!
  4. Well, both kings are catastrophically bad, and straighten-ing or flush-en-ing cards are sorta bad.But on the river, if we got a straightened card or a flushy card on the turn (of which we got both)... now any diamond, ace, 5, king, or deuce would effectively crap all over our hand. The point is, though, I think you're more often gonna fold more people out on the flop by going for the check/raise than by leading out here. And, if it checks around, then bad cards can come on the turn and we don't care too too much if we have to get away from the hand.
  5. Is that "Total Eclipse of the Heart?"Hahaha I remember that song. When I was a kid I always thought they said "totally blitzed by a fart."I think I was in 3rd grade. Still funny.
  6. I know what you mean, especially out of position. You're trying to protect your hand and keep the betting lead... but the next thing you know, it's the turn and you've committed a significant portion of your stack... and it really sucks to be reraised when all that's happened and you've only got one pair. The key here (and I'm not saying I notice this all the time when I'm playing, either) is that the 6c is a fairly safe card. That's why we feel better about betting more.
  7. I know we're 6-handed, but I'm in the "fold preflop" camp as well. This kind of hand plays muuuuuch better in late position. As played, though, I guess you gotta call the river.
  8. That's why I like betting more on the turn.
  9. Haven't read replies. You HAVE to raise pot on this turn.******reading replies******Even if you're scared... remember, it's okay to go broke if someone had a better full house in this kind of situation! That sort of thing just happens from time to time. When you fill up, you need to be stacking somebody, or make them show you a better boat.
  10. It looks fine to me. I like the river check, especially out of position, because it might induce a bluff. Leading and getting raised would really suck, and if he missed his draws he might think we did too and would fire a barrel on the river trying to get us to fold. One thing I might do differently is bet the pot or slightly overbet the pot on the turn. The 6c doesn't complete any draws, and adds a backdoor clubs draw, so we want to charge him if he's drawing heads up.
  11. First of all... it's important to realize that "flopping bottom two pair out of the blinds" can be a dangerous thing, not a good thing. Doyle Brunson says he's lost more money on bottom two pair than any other hand. It's very easy for your hand to be counterfeited... but you still have a strong hand that you have to play fast... which is why it sucks when your hand is suddenly worthless on the turn or river.I greatly prefer check/raising to leading out on this flop. Our number 1 priority is to get folders on the flop. By betting, a bunch of people behind us might peel, which makes the pot
  12. What he said. The big kings in early position are always the ones that everyone's most confused about preflop. I draw the line at always open-raising KQo from UTG.KJo is trickier. I think raising is definitely better than calling if you're going to play, but depending on table conditions open-folding is fine too. The thing is you don't really know what you want with KJo. It's not a hand that's helped by a multiway pot, and if you're raising to isolate out other hands... you tend to be in smaller pots against better hands, and KJo is easily dominated. I think you can only raise it if you'r
  13. Like everyone else says I like 3-betting too.By showing aggression on the flop, it generally slows people down on the later, more expensive streets. And we want to extract value if he's capping with overcards.
  14. I like folding preflop too. Playing KJo against a raise... and in the blinds so out of position... in a non-steal situation, you're asking for kicker problems.I'm not terribly keen about peeling a card off on the flop either. We've got overcards, so that's 6 one-pair outs and we might be dominated and make a second place hand... which is why I liked folding in the first place.
  15. From an old SNL weekend update:"Microsoft CEO Bill Gates was found guilty in a sexual harassment lawsuit, and he's settled by paying the woman $1 million a day for the rest of her life.Analysts predict Gates will go broke......when the Earth crashes into the sun."Good ol' Norm McDonald.
  16. Haven't read replies...Fold preflop. You have a hand that works best in multiway situations. You just raised dead money out of the hand and isolated yourself against someone who has you AT LEAST beaten, probably dominated.
  17. That's a brutal rake structure to try to beat long-term... I also think it's probably unbeatable. 3.5 BB off the top of any large pot you win is pretty steep. The casino wouldn't run "great promotions" unless they made money hand-over-fist off them... never forget that. You can learn a lot more, progress in poker a lot faster, expose your bankroll to less risk, and make more money easier by playing online as opposed to a low-limit B&M, simple as that. Take your next $300, $600, or $1200 and start playing .50/1, 1/2, or 2/4 online. As has been said, posting more and responding to others' p
  18. Obviously we've got almost all non-K hands destroyed, but we need to bet to extract value from other hands. Yeah... I think so too. People do waaaaay too much goofy stuff.
  19. Do you have my AIM?It'd be a lot easier to catch up over that medium, I'm sure, haha.I did just re-load the ol account... don't really know how much time I'll have but I miss y'all too.
  20. Yeah... Still more or less a stranger, regrettably.... finally figgered out how to get some freaking money online now that nobody takes neteller anymore... thought I'd stop by to say hi.Work's kicking ***. Just had my best month ever, 6 closings in April and 3 for May and 1 for June already. How've you been?
  21. Good times! Well... with as much time as I spend in front of a computer, I'll definitely be trying to stop by more often.Take care!
  22. Gooood morning you guys!It sure seems like lately all I ever do is drop by and make some lame attempt at explaining my absence away with how busy I've been......but that's exactly what I'm going to do. I had my best month ever in April, had 6 closings... and more listings to take this week and two closings for May already. We still goin' to Las Vegas June 20-25? Work's been going really well and I might need a summer vacation!
  23. I like check/calling as well here.
  24. I agree with everybody else... just call the first raise on the flush card, and check-call the river if you don't fill up.
