  1. Shark,I don't really like to discuss monetary matters, suffice to say I was making four times my 9-5 income. The boredom really is that bad and then the depression sets in. I'm much happier these days and making much less, I also enjoy my poker more. If money is really more important than being happy give it a shot, but it is hard. I wouldn't recommend it if you have dependents though. My main games were 15/30 limit and $200 s'n'g's on Party. It's the softest site by far and always a game going. I stopped enjoying them and don't really play there now. I only play for fun these days so I play M
  2. Ok shark, heres my 0.02cWhat are you planning on playing? Ring games, limit, NL,PL? multi tourneys, s'n'g's?If it's tourneys your planning DONT! The varients are to large, you may win a couple of $$$k one month and then hit a real bad spell of 2-3 months. If it's ring games and NL or PL you're gonna need more than the 300bb's people talk about. The swings hit you more at NL and hurt more when it's your sole source of income. IMO limit is the only viable option if you're gonna go pro, with MTT's as a side game.I'd also recommend studying at the same time, something you wish to do, as it keeps y
  3. Thats a load of shit, even close to the money with a decent chip stack I'm calling. If he has A-A so be it, other wise you're a big favourite to double your stack and have a healthy lead. If you're only concerned about making the money you're playing the game all wrong. The only times I fold this is if a good tight player calls before me, making it obvious he has Aces, or on the bubble ultra short stacked and trying to scrape through to the money. If I'm really short then winning this pot probably won't help me get to the money so I let it go and wait for the blinds.
  4. S'n'G's are by far the easiest way to make money, they just bore the crap out of me. It's all to easy to make the money playing on autopilot. I try and take down a couple of $100 ones a day and then play something with a bit more of a challenge. If I play to many, I have a tendency to continue playing straight forward in the ring games and missing to many opportunities at taking down big pots.
  5. There's a famous quote along those lines....'Quitting smokes is the easiest thing in the world, I've done it 8-9 times'Cant remember who said it.Good luck though smash, every time I try to quit work seems to get more stressful and I just have to start again
  6. Are you saying you adjusted your game to what SS2 says?If so you deserve to lose. Why change your game because of what you read in a book? Take the advice on board but dont use it as a system. Play your normal game and use the book knowledge as a guide in certain situations.SS is outdated and should not be used at all. Also from the reports I've heard, SS2 is full of terrible information. All else fails, 'blame Canada'
  7. Sports interactionbodogwilliam hillvictor chandlertheres a whole bunch of them out there, you ever used a search engine?
  8. Personally I fold preflop. Axs is so overrated by the majority of players, it can only get you in trouble. On a side issue, why not raise the flop and bet out on the turn? If you want to play A6 at least bet it on that flop. You may even get to check the river if he's scared of you holding a 7.
  9. Anyone know about a guy by the name of NSXT2. Played him a couple of times and can't work out if he's really good or really lucky. His stack is up and down all the way through a game. One minute hes on 20k, look again hes on 4k, then up to 30k. All this within 30 mins play. His results are good so I guess he must have some game. He was also said he was at a WPT game last week.Should I be avoiding this guy?

  11. I think you are wrong in thinking you can have a system for any game. So much depends on the table you are at. Whats the point in playing a tight game for the first hour if everyone else is also playing quite tight. The best players get their results from mixing up the game depending on how others are playing, blind sizes, chip stacks etc. It's much better to play the opposite of how the majority of the table is, than sitting down knowing exactly how you're gonna play.I don't mean to say your system is no use, it's clearly reaping results for you, but I would love to come accross a MTT where
  12. Depends on what the buy-in is.If it's around the $5-$20 mark he could have anything from Q-T, K-T, 9-T, medium pair up to A-A, A-K. And if they have any of these hands they're gonna call. Over $20 it's more likely A-A,A-K. I push all my chips in on the flop with either scenario. Make draws pay and the big hands will call anyway. Not pushing here is the worse play I can think of. 1k in the pot you need to bet at least 700 which makes you pot commited, so just push anyway. Taking a guess he had either Q-T and hit his straight or A-A and hit trips. This is just gonna be another bad beat story di
  13. Are you really asking people to let you know where the softest games are?I've played around a dozen different sites looking for the easiest games around ( I think I've found them now) and it's not the kind of info you give away. :-) If I was to list what I think are the best games to play in they would suddenly become the worst. Every man and his dog would be over there and the game becomes a lot harder. I think Party is becoming a victim of this. Due to the amount of people saying how soft the games are they are now a lot tougher to beat. The best advice I could give would give is do some
  14. I think Raymer is far better than most give him credit for. Any one who has read his posts on 2+2 would realise he has a great understanding of the game. Moneymaker was/is a lucky fish who will never win another 10k buy in event. I really can't believe he got to the final table never mind winning the whole thing. On a seperate issue, I think the main event would be more interesting if it was a mixed game. If all aspects of poker was covered (NL,PL,FL. Omaha, Hold-em, Stud, Razz, Draw) the winner surely would be the best player overall and not some lucky guy who won a lot of coin flips. Perhaps

  16. Finally proof Party has been conning us. http://www.billrini.com/archives/001169.htmlApologies if this has been posted before. I did a search I didn't see it anywhere.
  17. my friend we have much to talk about. I know your pain and agony all too well. In fact Champ man was the cause of one of my dumber moves a few years ago. I skiped out on a final because I got Man City double promoted in years running(ahh yes, back the season that they were in the old D2), I won the FA Cup with them and the Autoglass trophy, this of course was all in one 72 hour session in which I left the screen to only go to the bathroom, I also really made this girl I was seeing mad as I wasn't answering the phone or talking to anyone, I mena seriously I won the FA Cup as a First Divisin te
  18. Holy censored. Thats just awful play. How can a CL have no concept of pot odds? Hope you still got a pay out.By the way, does anyone know the worst odds you can be preflop? I assume it's a situation when everyone at a 10-handed table sees a flop.AA, KK, KQ, KQ, QQ. KK & QQ has 0.1% chance to win. No chance of a set and straight opportunities limited with all the high cards which are out. Maybe get lower but its the first one I tried. www.cardplayer.com has a odds calculator, worth checking out.
  19. Holy shit. Thats just awful play. How can a CL have no concept of pot odds? Hope you still got a pay out.
  20. Nice going. The important thing is not to get carried away. Don't increase your stakes because you have had some good wins. Keep it as part of your BR. That way you'll have plenty for future games if you experience a down swing. I think BR management is probably the most important thing for a poker player. The last thing you want to do is waste your cash and then not have enough if a good game occurs. With 1k to play with you should be fine for a long time, even if you hit a bad run.
  21. Yeah I understand what you're saying Jay. I just prefer to play poker than flip a coin. If I've played for 1-2 hours I want the result to go to the better player, not just let it ride on luck.
  22. when heads up with equal chips either folds or goes all in.In a MTT on Golden Palace last night. Got to heads up with a guy and there was plenty of play left in the game. We both had around 100k with blinds at 2k/4k. As the title suggests he wasn't interested in post flop play. I began by letting him take a few pots hoping he went all in when I had a monster. In the end I had to start using the same moves or get blinded out. Finally I got so frustrated I called one of his moves with A6o and lost to his KJ.Anyone got any advice what I could have done to counteract his moves. I think my post f

  24. Careful if you buy this, it's very addictive. Be prepared to telephone in to work claiming you have some tropical disease and need 4 months off. Also eats into my poker time. On the plus side I can now manage on 2 hours sleep a night and minimal food. Just one more game I'm on a roll is the cry to my girlfriend. She thinks I'm grinding out enough to pay for the next vacation. If she knew I was just trying to win the LDV trophy with Swansea I think there would be trouble in paradise :-)
  25. Pokergirl1 was very successful on the prima network. Always in the biggest games and always had a healthy stack. He had his account frozen at one stage though, accused of chip dumping. Not sure of the outcome but if you read the details he looks innocent.
