  1. Take a look at Harrington's book on tournament hold-em. I like the fact that he puts a bunch of problems at the end of each chapter as a way for the reader to test him or her self on the theories and lessons in the chapter. He then walks thru each problem with the reader explaining his thought process; I thought those parts were awesome teaching tools. There are so many poker books out there now - you need some type of angle in order to have any chance of marketing the book. One way would be to start a blog if you don't have one yet - if your readership keeps increasing, then you know that what
  2. Very good blog - he's actually freerolling in this event as the first two Hollywood players (must have been some sort of tourney) couldn't make it, so Wil was next in line to get the free entry. He's posting every day about the tourney.
  3. Haven't tried it but there is also www.tradesports.comThey are more of an exchange where you can set your own bet; you just need someone to take the other side.Supposedly they give better value then a regular sports book - you can bet anything there as they had bets on who was going to be the next pope for example.
  4. Well, I'm re-reading Jennifer Harman's section in SS2; she lists a few situations where she would check-raise or straight raise with middle pair from different positions.I could see an aggressive player doing this and doing well if the table is tight after the flop.
  5. Here, see this link; Suited up mentions to use Bubbad as a contact when he's in Vegas. Now, you can start to receive those apologies.http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...er=asc&start=30
  6. This is just a tough beat IMHONo one raised pre-flop, so AK is probably out of the question. He starts raising you on the turn, pocket 7's would give him a boat after the turn but would he have stuck around after the flop with just 7's - probably not.Really, KQ is the only hand that you had to worry about which unfortunately he had.Other option is not to play KJ, AJ, K10 - hands that can get dominated and lose you a big pot.
  7. University of California, BS Industrial Engineering/Operations ResearchSanta Clara University, MBAPissed at the BCS for letting Texas into the Rose Bowl instead of Cal - not so pissed after watching that Texas Tech QB throw for about 10,000 yards against us in the Holiday Bowl.
  8. I'm against the age limit. Why should a Kobe Bryant or LeBron James give up their $ just because other high school kids greatly overvalue their value in the marketplace?Especially given the fact that there are only so many years that an athlete can make $ before father time shows up and sends them off to early retirement. My thinking is that if a kid doesn't get drafted, why can't he instead go back to college as a fallback? If they really cared about the kid, they should do that. Also, what if a Lebron got injured playing college basketball as a freshman? There is no way any insurance will
  9. Andy Bellin was the author - Poker Nation. Excellent book.Unfortunately, I think that this hand is less than 50-50. I think that you have 10 outs (6's, J's, 9's), probably good but I would factor it down for the potential flush that is sitting out there. Also, there is the slight chance that someone already has the straight (you said that all the players are tricky, so I'm assuming that the all-in guy could already have his hand)So, I'd say overall maybe 1 in 5 if I'm being generous. You're getting 2.8 to 1 ($139 for $50) for the call.Fold.
  10. I think that you mis-typed the seat #'s. I'll assume thatSeat 4 min-raisesSeat 1 makes it 2000Seat 2 (SB) foldsYou as the BB now have the actionSeat 4 is the big stack so this may be a low $ play to steal the blinds. Seat 1 then raises with an actual hand (could be a reraise to steal the blinds also).3,400 chips in the pot - I would re-raise all in and at worst someone will have AA, KK (whoops) or a PP (slight dog) or you're in the lead. This is also based on your "read" as it looks like any of these players would go in with a less than premium hand.
  11. Congrats! Sounds like a roller coaster of a tournament - good luck at the WSOP; be sure to write about it afterwards!
  12. I didn't rebuy although I did take the add-on. My general rule is to typically take one more rebuy if its early, but that would be it.On the very first hand of the tournament, I had Q J o and limped in. Flop was K 10 5. 9 fell on the turn. I ended up all-in with two other players who both had K 10. Tripled up on the first hand.
  13. Josh,Excellent Site! It looks very promising and I hope that you keep at it.Very entertaining and educational articles - time to add another bookmark!
  14. On the JJ hand, I didn't want him to fold as I was pretty far behind at that point. After his min raise, I wanted to re-raise just enough where I felt that he would call to get some more chips in the pot. I felt that anything over a 60,000 raise would cause a fold which I didn't want.I was pot committed at that point regardless of the flop (which stunk for me) - I checked the flop hoping that the flop missed him and then went for it. I was hoping that he had a low/middle suited connectors, pocket 10's or lower, or a K without an A or Q. On the 9-9 hand, I went all-in before the flop, so h

Purported to be from the Dalai Lama:Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.Follow the three "R's": Respect for self, respect for others, responsibility for all your actions.Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.Learn the rules, so you know how to break them properly.Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.Spend some time alone every day.Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values
  18. Great Job! I checked with about 2 hrs in and you had about 9,000 chips while the chip leader was over 40,000 chips. You'll have to tell us about some of the key hands.Again, Congrats!

  21. Here's what you win on Saturday if you finish first. The buyin is $200 although most players probably won their entry thru their free entry into the $25 satellite. The winner of the $25 "Road to the Bellagio" No Juice-No Catch tournament at Poker Mountain will receive: * $25,000 entry into the World Poker Tour Championship event at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, April 18-24 * Airfare and lodging at the Bellagio * A one-on-one coaching session with TJ Cloutier and Daniel Negreanu
  22. Assuming the BB would have folded to a SB PF raise and then everyone else calls the extra bet, there would be 8 SB in the pot.SB leads out after the flop, OP should fold with bottom pair and two to act behind him.
  23. Fold pre-flop to the big raise. After the flop, CO should bet out to protect the baby flush and to find out where he stands. Don't like the check. After the turn, CO only raises 30 into a pot of 142; bet out 2/3 the pot to try to take it down. Now, you're getting almost 3-1 if you call although there are two players acting after you.I would re-raise to force out the last two players; they would have re-raised earlier if they had a made hand. Then hope your hand beats MP1's hand.
  24. I appreciate the criticism; I saw the flop about 40% of the time in the session which is way too high.I have read Aseem's two-parter on how to play Omaha 8 and Baldwin's section in SS2. So, I started out with those pre-flop guidelines in my head but noticed quickly after the first round that two of the players at the table were raising with garbage and playing to the end with said garbage. The guy to my right once raised and called down with high pair and no low for example on one hand. So, I obviously loosened up way too much and ended up getting a bunch of lucky flops which saved me.How w
