Gone Girl (2014) 6. Hell or High Water (2016) 7. Wind River (2017) 8. Silver Linings Playbook (2012) 9. Margin Call (2011) 10. Sicario (2015)
  2. i watched the trailer for bone temple and it did look like a well shot movie, but i just dont see myself watching it. just not my cup of tea, as they say. i did find sevearl things on peacock (the ****) that i want to watch soon, most of all Master and Commander. what a movie that is.
  3. THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES. watched it with my mom yesterday. i hadnt seen it in forever and i still greatly enjoyed it and think its really good. she was less than impressed and was not at all convinced that the mothman is out there trying to warn us. but i still believe. i thought it did a really good job of using the camera to make it feel like someone is watching you. like this shot from the beginning.
  4. there's no easy way out, fritzy. there's no shortcut home. i'll be back this weekend for sure. maybe thursday night since i have friday off for JUNETEENTH. i wore my new G SHOCK as well and damn if it wasn't stylish as hell too. just brutally watchmogged 'em, as the kids say. i jsut finished walking the stairs in my house (up and down if you're unfamiliar with how stairs work) for 20 minutes and damn if that wasn't getting the heart going. gonna start doing that more often.
  5. i went to the casino last night. played 1/3 for a while before a 5/5/10 game got going. was insanely card dead in 5/5/10 and lost 140 bucks. I was up about 500 after dwindling down for a while and then doubling up with AK and then the double board PLO bomb pot cost me 600 when i got quartered on the top board and missed the world on the bottom. just a damn shame. the AK was about the only hand i opened in four hours so i was proud of my patience, but it was painful.
  6. sappy doesnt bother me as long as its well done. i remember from the rewatchables episode on saving private ryan bill simmons is moaning about the end where the old man asks his wife to tell him he's lived a good life. bill just has no sentimentality in him, but that scene always made sense to me and i liked it.
  7. i purposefully havent even watched the trailer for disclosure day, i want to see it knowing as little as possible. hopefully spielberg is back at the top of his game, we really need an incredible movie right now. something big that captures the whole culture if such a thing is even possible anymore.
  8. there is a scene in seinfeld where they are stuck in traffic and go on side adventures after getting out of the saab. the famous puerto rico day parade episdoe late in the series, but they werent gambling. i'd work in a reference to the movie HEAT when gary gets back to the car. brad tells gary he has a problem if he's rolling dice and catching cards while stuck in traffic and gary says, well, brad, for me, the action is the juice. and brad says that doesn't even make sense for your gambliing addiction but tom sizemore is the man. and then the traffic clears thanks to the tom sizem
  9. i havent seen melancholia and i hadnt heard of it. sounds like a strange one. i just got done watching gladiator 2. i hadnt seen it cause i was afraid it would be bad, and i was right. i dont know what they were thinking with this thing. i didnt think denzel could be bad but i dont know what he was doing. it's like he thought he was doing hamlet on broadway or sometihng.
  10. i like it. when gary hit the blackjack table i was expecting him to have to double down and then get dominated by the hot blond. hopefully this sexy blond comes back around and gives gary a chance later on. for cost savings we might need to move the film to present day so we can use current locations and cars. we'd need a lot of cash to retro fit the strip to make it look like 2005. just a thought.
  11. the job is fine, im still training, basically. reviewing docs along with someone else and seeing if i spot all issues correctly and so on. i've been going into too much detail, identifying too many small issues that dont need attention because we dont have time for perfection. which isnt dissimilar to when i started my first job. i did a report and wrote a 4 page analysis that was too many characters for the system so i circumvented it. my boss called me and said dont do that again, you cant spend that much time on any one thing. the hard part will be staying focused. with no day to day
  12. i won't be doing any babysitting unless people die. but they live across the state and its weird to think that in the next five years i'll probably see her for 48 hours total. maybe less. actually physically be in the same room with her. strange when you think about it that way. i dont really like the idea that if i dont live near her she could be 7 years old and might not know me from another random old man. i dont like it at all.
  13. yeah, first time. my brother is a lot younger than me, so he's bailed me out and provided a grandchild to our parents. she's a sweetheart, very alert and talkative for a 3 month old. i played her some classical music to get the brain waves firing and the neurons connecting. she's gonna do great things someday.
