rp_Froggy 0
During my last visit I ran into a couple of rounders I saw everywhere that were in from out of town and make regular trips to vegas. They tend to stay in cheaper hotels that have fringed benefits such as buffet coupons.I beleive the one player I spoke with statyed at sun coast for $40 bucks a night and received a $16 dollar coupon for their pretty decent buffet. Those are the types of deals that would allow flying into vegas for a couple days with short notice to zip in and play. When I come to town by myself to play poker, I could care less about the glitz and so called service you receive at Bellagio, Palms, etc. If I take my wife, those places are great, but to play cards, I just need a clean bed in a safe area.Any locals have scoop on where to stay cheap so the bankroll can be spent in the cardrooms?Flame as Needed! KTW 0
I don't think u will get flamed. U have good intentions. The New Frontier which is a little north of middle strip has great deals. U can get an Atrium Suite which had 1 bedroom with 1 queen or 2 twins?, a sitting/TV room with a fridge(thats a big plus to me)a small walkin closet and a decent bathroom for as little as $60 a night during off peak.Good luck. Dixie Wrecked 0
A friend of mine just went to Vegas and he hooked up with some other people and rented a house for a few days for $240/night. That came out to $60 a night for a really nice house with a jacuzzi, pool table, and poker table. The houses for rent are really easy to find on the internet but aren't worth it unless you go in on it with others. Maybe you could organize an FCP field trip?

SleekPanther 0
You may also want to check out the Orleans. They have large clean rooms, decent grub and poker on site with twice daily tourneys and many limits and games. They have great prices for what you get mid week , a coupon book for food and drink and a free shuttle to the strip if you want higher action. Check out their website for promotions. If you time it right it's one of my favorites for value. Peace and good luck.
pokerplayer24 0
If we're talking about real rounders who play decent limits live aka 10/20 and up its unlikely they cheap out in order to save 100$ a night. If you made this thread because you couldn't beat the live 3/6 game then I assure you its not the other players that are good but instead you that are bad. You think a 30/60 limit player is going to stay at the holiday in rather then the bellagio to save 1 bb a day?

You think a 30/60 limit player is going to stay at the holiday in rather then the bellagio to save 1 bb a day? Thanks to those that posted useful information. Ok, let's say a decent 10/20 player can make $400 a day. And let's not forget that a decent player can loose a couple buy-ins in a day. Averaging $400 a day is probably about right, and you did guess about right on the limits. Assuming the above to be true, paying an extra $100 cuts into your daily bottom line by 25%. No matter what you earn, a 25% pay cut is significant. It's all a matter of preference. I personally have stayed at the high end places and when I am alone and there to play cards get no pleasure out of it. What I do get pleasure out of is going home profitable, putting the profit into my bankroll, and spending the extra $100 bucks a day on my wife so she encourages me to go back next month. Stealth Beagle 0
As noted above, the Imperial Palace often has very affordable rates and their location in the heart of the strip is very solid. Same applies to the Flamingo.
Pug_Fugly 0
Check a map and be sure to account for taxi charges when you do your math. I like to be within walking/tram distance to avoid those expenses.
dan_thunder 0
I went to Vegas in December for a week and stayed at the Flamingo, playing the 30/60 all week. I had a last minute package deal that covered everything, but the way the game was paying off, I almost stayed for a night or two at Bellagio with the poker rate. Albeit, I had a tremendous week- if it had been bad, the Flamingo could have been considered too expensive, although each nice was less than the price of one big bet. No_Neck 0
400 a day playing 10-20 that is if you are playing 20 hours. Live play isn't 1bb/hour?if you play for say 12 hours 240 dollars, then take 100 bucks off that, food off that and you are basically even.

Live play isn't 1bb/hour?if you play for say 12 hours 240 dollars, then take 100 bucks off that, food off that and you are basically even.I agree! I was just going with the $400 posted by the "troll" to point out that saving $100 bucks a day has value at most any limits.IMO if going to Vegas as a special occasion, do it up right and have a ball. If it is 2 to 3 times a quarter, then treat it as a business trip and be frugal.I actually prefer tournaments, which can really be a kick in the bankroll pants if you are running badly. Playing the $1000 a day at Bellagio with no cashes can hurt. Pros buying in to nearly a main event a month plus WSOP can really make dismal money if they have a bad year with $200K of Buy-ins and T&E.I have to wonder how often and at what level those that criticize cutting expenses play and how well they track their true profit. You think a 30/60 limit player is going to stay at the holiday in rather then the bellagio to save 1 bb a day?You are SO grossly overestimating the earning power of a lowish mid-limit poker player. $400 a day consistently playing B&M? That's two BB an hour for 10 hours a day. Certainly possible, but a big freaking grind. The poster who mentioned that $100 a day is 25% of your imaginary $400 daily earn is the smart one here. I can guarantee you from talking to folks I know who play for a living that there aren't many $10-$20 (or even $30-$60) players who derive their primary income from live play who are living it up off what they make. You can earn a decent living playing these stakes if you are disciplined and have some talent, but you aren't living at the Bellagio, that's for damn sure.
