KHSPoker21 0
What this guy said. Unless its button that shoves. Why? I know we're 140bbs effective but making it 30bbs and folding to a button shove cant be profitable imo. The pot would be ~$144 after the button puts in a total of 60 and it would be 220 more to call into a pot of $364 w/ blockers on AA and KK, even if he's 38/10Philadelphia Phillies are '08 world champs
terradawg 0
I don't play higher than 50 NL or 100 NL and I definitely suck. That's why I play games like NLO8 where people suck way worse than me.

Naked_Cowboy 0
about the 50 nl thing, what you have to remember is that you cannot think more than 1 level above your opponents. There are a lot of bad players at 50nl, most of whom aren't thinking above zero level. Second level play or complex plays simply do not work against a lot of the people. The most effective strategy against these players is very simplistic. A good player watching me (or bull probably, or a lot of other people here when they played 50nl) is going to see exactly what you saw JC, predictable, pretty formulaic play. That is the most effective strategy against the lowest common denominator at these levels. I assure you, the way I play at 50nl is not the same way I play at 1000nl, and it's far from a "high level of play", but it is the best way to beat that limit, and it doesn't mean I'm a bad player. PrtyPSux 0
lol @ posting from the cutoff in 6max oh no!Dear JC,I'd love to speak with you more indepthly about poker. Please let me know if this could be arranged.Mainly, I wanna know if you think I can beat 50nl and 100nl, but that's neither here nor there.Sean.if you post on strategy forums and read and stuff I'm sure you can beat those games..I don't think i'm a good reg at all, but in the spot listed, players with those stats on FTP wouldn't be calling with 99 or less imoWhatisgreat - that might be standard on AP, but you'll see plays like that on FT pretty rarely from a reg IMEthey do at 2/4 and 5/10 and 25/50...especially if you're not a huge nit...People get offended when you say "90% of people at 50NL are terrible" because you're indirectly offending them. This is how it goes.90% of people at 50 NL suckI'm obviously in the top 10% because I don't suckBut I have to study and work at my game to beat 50NL for 3ptbb/100If everyone at 50NL sucks then I should be able to easily beat it for moreSo either 90% of people don't suck or I'm not that goodHey JC said I suckthis shouldn't be offensive, you probably do suck....so do I ...Now it's not entirely correct to think like that. I'd say that at any given level anyone who's good has at some point needed to study and work on their game to get good. Perhaps at some point you get to the point where it really is easy. But for most of us when we're getting to that point we move up to the next level where it gets harder (for us) again.you should never stop learning/...as miyamoto musashi wrote "temper yourself with one thousand days of practice and then refine yourself with ten thousand days of training" ....in other words, everyone has a lot to learn.Saying that people suck at a given level is pretty useless. Say you're going into a really important final table and I come up to you and say "Hey I got a great read on the guy in seat 3. He sucks." That's pretty much useless. How does he suck? Is he weak/tight or loose/passive? Does he bluff too often or never? You still need to figure out in what way he sucks and then figure out what you can do to exploit him.I agree to an extent, but your example is flawed...if I came up to someone and I was like "yo how does raymond davis play?" and they respond "he's the worst" I usually don't need to know much more, obv more info helps but knowing that someone is bad or good in general is pretty important.Back to the original comment on a hand that started this conversation you said that shoving with TT in that spot was fine because people suck and will call with worse. While I think that's sometimes true I think that for most opponents at this level it's more likely that "They suck and flatted JJ". Again different kinds of suck. I'm not going to so with 90% suck but I'd agree that 10% or less are "pretty good". It's just that in today's game a lot of the guys who suck suck by being tight/passive rather than loose/passive and that makes a huge difference in the kinds of ranges we'll see.I could see this being the case, but it seems our hand is pretty well disguised right now and you should be getting called by hands you have beat often enough to make shoving or 4 betting good...imo... psujohn 0
this shouldn't be offensive, you probably do suck....so do I ...Of course the whole disagreement could be over the definition of sucking. Yeah by some (many?) definitions of sucking I certainly do. I never play a session without making a serious mental error. I probably can't play 10 minutes w/o thinking "I shouldn't have done that" often immediately after "doing that". But that definition of suck is hardly useful. What is useful is that my opponents for the most part suck worse. When you say 90% of players at 100NL suck I think of extreme suckitude - the 49/3/0.4 moron who predictably calls down with bottom pair or the mouth breather than can't lay down 99 on a AKJ monotone flop. That kind of suckage is pretty rare (though a gift when you find it).38/10's just rarely are the types to get it in light pre. I think he just calls with AK pretty much always. You're saying this because of the spread right? Like a 12/10 is getting it in much lighter than a 38/10 because the 12/10 doesn't like to call and the 38/10 absolutely loves to call.
