Apropos collusion, I have been meaning to ask;It is well known that many top players find their best friends among other top players; what are the chances that they would be willing to put a serious hurt on their best friend? For instance (I have no idea whether they collude or not); Phil Laak vs. Antonio Esfandiari .... Phil Laak vs Jennifer Tilly .... DN vs. Jen Harman ... Doyle Brunson vs. Todd Brunson ... Dutch Boyd and his crew ... Brandi Hawbaker vs Capt. Tom Franklin (ok maybe they wouldn't)I doubt they would do anything stupid like chip dumping as that could be spotted pretty easily but they may avoid playing big pots against each other even though the cards may dictate so?Just wonderingErasa

At six grand a month I'm never gonna see them in Garden City Casino. But, like Blair said, dirty dealing isn't the real problem anymore, it's collusion.Somebody once said that in the old days they could see marked cards from two tables over. That doesn't happen much anymore.
They are actually cheaper than having a dealer over the course of a month. And deals 50% more hands. From a financial standpoint they are a no-brainer, unless people refuse to play on them (which hasn't been a problem).

I understand what you are saying about collusion but I would rather risk being colluded against than go to a casino/tournament and play on a machine. If i wanted to play on a machine I could do that from home right now. Doing this to poker will stop the social element and take a lot of fun and skill out of the game IMO.

Electronic tables are not the main point or this thread, but I will never play in a casino with these. It completely defeats the purpose of why I go to a casino. Thank you. Carry on.
QFMFTI will never play on these electronic tables. One of the things I like the most about going to the casino is getting to handle the cards and the chips. There's nothing quite like stacking a big pot that you just raked, or looking down at your cards and seeing a really pretty hand like big suited connectors or pocket Aces. I love cards and chips.

Scenario, sometime in the future:Online poker is non-existent in the US, either because of government heavy-handedness or because it became a battle of computers, with bots and/or player assist programs becoming the norm, thereby driving the lives ones from the game. In B&M poker rooms, electronic tables have become the norm as card rooms realize the immense savings they offer. Advances in technology have enabled table manufacturers to make the experience much more realistic for players than the original models. Sophisticated computer technology has virtually eliminated cheating and collusion. Players love the electrnic tables because they get more hands per hour, with no dealer errors, reduced rake, no dealer tips and a feeling of security. This is not that far-fetched. Would you play or quit the game?

I live in Nocal and I just talked to a buddy of mine who plays at the Folsom casino, and he went in their a couple weeks ago and they had switched 100% to the poker tek tables. He personally did not like it, but it is the first card room in the US to go to full computer tables. I had the option to go their or the luck derby tonight and I chose the lucky derby because it had dealers and chips

I quit the game. I turn poker over to the slots players, and find a nice private game. One of the (many) reasons I haven't had much success with online poker is that it is too flat. I like the chips, the clatter, the cards. Death to PTEK!

6k a month is nothing for a casino, these things are much cheaper than hiring a dealer for 6 month. I am not sure how I feel about these since I haven't played on them. I think it would be cool if you could get one for your house....
