First State To Ban Internet Poker

Recommended Posts

After some reading on the subject, I have a different conclusion. I don't think that politicians really care what we do on our computers. Fact is, the states get no cut of the gambling we do over the internet, so they want to ban it. WA has casinos so it's not a moral issue there. I am worried though that states that enjoy wasting their time on moral legislation will look to WA as an incorrect example of the way to go on this subject. It's always, always about the $$$. Don't kid yourself by thinking otherwise.

Where are they going to get the money to build all these prisons for us degenerate gamblers?
They'll set up some kind of federal lottery. :club:

The real question is - why does Washington state have well over 400 representatives in the state legislature - a bit excessive I think. That state would do well to cut that number in half and save a lot of tax dollars. As an aside, wouldn't you love to see Phil Hellmuth burst into the Washington legislature, screaming - " You can't even spell 'poker'! "Fact is, the states get no cut of the gambling we do over the internet, so they want to ban it. Wouldn't they want to legalize and tax it, then? Then they would get their cut. "Banning" it won't stop it, as we all know. The reality is that lobbyists for land-based casinos have pushed for this, thinking it will mean more poker players for their casinos. They are most likely sorely mistaken about that. This whole thing is nothing more than a comedy of errors.
