4:00 minutes for Komisarek is the biggest bullshit call of the year....why not just give the game to Carolina? I think someone needs to investigate the referee gambling ring because some of them definitely laid money down on the Hurricanes.

No ****ing ****, this was the worst sham in the history of the playoffs. If the habs end up losing this series we can look back at this ****ing rig-job and see why. Our captain gets his eye gouged out and no penalty and then all these bullshit calls on us to end the game... wow. So infuriated right now :club:

I cant believe how much they called in the Game 3 of Red Wings/ Oilers compared to the 1st two games.18 penalties, that's just ridiculous.

i have to agree with the 3 posts above this last one, WORST call [scratch that, NO call] ever! how could they all miss that hiogh stick? not to mention the ref had to help Koivu off the ice all the while blood gushing out of his eye [eye region apprantley...whew!] and then that disgustoing call on komisarek, the annoiuncers all "oh if theres blood it will be 4 minutes" what bs, there was no blood and barely any high stick. it certainly, in effect, handed the game to carolina, then the "holding" penalty to add insult to injury in OT. i dont even remember carolina getting 1 penalty all game, ****ing joke

How about the Dallas/Colorado game? The refs come to the game, go through their pregame routine, la de dah, call TWO penalties in the first period. THEN, right at the end of the first, they show Gary Bettman in the crowd, as well as interview him between periods. What happens? 11 penalties in the next forty minutes..... The Bettman Effect indeed.....

Roloson should have been called for delay of game when he lifted the net. It stopped play unnecessarily, and it's basically the same as shooting it over the glass. Lucky bastards...

I dont think you can call that, bc he was kind of a victim of circumstance. If he had pushed the net off the pegs, then you can call him. My point is that if the puck hadn't gone in, that wouldnt be a penalty.

It couldnt have anything to do with showing him in the crowd. He talks to the reffing crew before the game starts, so they always knew he was there. He was at the Ducks/Calgary game Tuesday, what was the penalty count there? I think before that he was at San Jose/Nashville..how bout that game?He was at the first Rangers/Devils game..the count was very high there, and while some of the calls were close, none of them were "phantom" calls by any means.

already 14 in game 4.
The Red Wings had 11 power plays. I'm a huge Red Wings fan, but there's something wrong when 11 penalties get called on one team. There was no flow to the game. It's just ridiculous.

How many games are the refs going to decide this year? I'm not for 'just letting them play' but I am tired of this inconsistant bullshit. The worst no-call of the game costs edmonton the game tonight. Last night the Habs get killed by several no calls and then 2 ridiculous penaltys late in the game. This is just too pathetic. I'm just waiting for someone to leak the "I don't want to see established canadian market teams win" memo from Bettman geezus.

I dont know about the Ducks/Calgary game, but I can tell you that the SJ game and the Devils game he attended both had 20 penalties each... the refs and players and even the media are already referring to it as the 'Bettman Effect' because of his asinine comments before the playoffs started. If you think it doesnt have an effect on the refs, then you've got your head up your ***....

Last nights Wings/Oilers game was a perfect example of how messed up this league is. Yes, my team won, but I can't sit here with a straight face and say that they earned it 100%. That game was absolutely a pain to watch regardless of who you were rooting for. So many horrendous calls for both teams. Towards the end it was both teams doing their best not to touch an opposing player for fear of getting a penalty. What a joke. Bettman is a tool and is slowly ruining this game.

Couldn't agree more. Im not gong to whine a complain about the refs being one sided (ohh wait, thats what the thread is for), but it really was horrible both ways. I just tend to think the 'star' redwings with their experience and all get away with more. That pick by Lidstrom effectively gave the stars a 5 on 2 on that goal. No wonder they scored. Im not going to say that may have cost Edmonton the series, but it really hurt. I do think Detroit was the better team last night and this series deserves to be 2-2.

Did you see the cross checking call on Homer when he had the stick in his right hand and nothing in his left hand and pushed the guy in front of the net and they called it cross checking. I about threw the TV at the cat I was so pissed. I don't have it in front of me but I believe to call a cross check the player needs to have both hands on the stick and then take a nice jab at the opponent. The stick never hit the guy. I saw a shot of the hit but now I can't find it. :(It was ugly all around. That is what you get when you start two inexperienced refs in one game.

I don't recall exactly, but I think you're talking about when he knocked down Ryan Smyth in from of Legace.Thats exactly what I thought when they introduced the refs at the start of the game. "who the hell are these chumps???" They proved me correct. lol.

I didnt say there was no effect, just that it wasn't possible for it to be due to them showing him on the jumbotron at the end of the 1st period. Also all the games are watched and reviewed so him being at a game shouldnt have any impact either.Personally I think theyve gone too far. The problem, though, is if they dont call the borderline ones you are back to giving them a lot of judgement...and room for criticism. So do you like the "old" dont call it if theres no blood hockey, or the game the way it could be if players get the idea not to even hint at interference/obstruction? And if you like the "old" hockey, can it survive and grow in that mode?
