how was the fcp party

Recommended Posts

it was ok. 279 is a cool venue (ive been there before), we got a free hat. there was a freeroll for 50 or so people drawn at random from the crowd of 300ish. i got drawn. the structure was obviously designed to minimize the time of the tourney. we got 4k chips to start, 100-200 blinds, and they doubled every 10 minutes. 7 handed with 7 tables, we played down to 1 winner on each table. I eliminated a guy 5 handed: blinds were 1000-2000 with a 300 ante (again, the structure was crap), i was big blind with 52o. UTG pushed for 3700 total, and it was folded to me. with 8k in the pot and only 1700 to call, plus my remaining 3k doing me no good if i folded my hand to the bettor, i called, and spiked a 5 against his 33. of course, this guy now thought i was the biggest fish in the world and spent the next 25 minutes alternating between walking around telling people about my fishiness and explaining my fishiness to me. i tried to explain pot odds and equity to him but he obviously wasnt gonna figure it out so i gave up. i was eliminated 3 handed when i pushed from the button with A5o and was insta-called by both other players, who turned up QT and Q9. QT turned a gutshot and IGHN. The party was kind of awkward since no one really knew each other, but i had a good time, a few drinks, met a few card players, and really wouldnt have beeen doing much else on a tuesday nite.

- someone stole my hat. - i won my initial table and "played" with Negreanu at the final. I put it in quotes because I was only involved in 3 pots, 2 i picked up blinds/antes and 1 i got eliminated. Never been so card dead, worst time for a crap streak, I saw one A in the almost hour I was sitting there and I had to fold it.- party was pretty good. met a few cool people from here and talked to Daniel quite a bit.

Tremomey you donk...lolWhat kind of guy pushes all in with J 9?? lol :club: The beginning was kind of slow, the "party" for the FCP'ers I don't think really started till after their"freeroll" was over, and 2/3 of the crowd cleared out.At that point DN actually spent time chatting with us,hung out, signed some autographs, had a few drinks, and that made it all worth while. It was great to meet some fellow FCP'ers. Digital Monkeyand Tremomey win the award for most dedicated, with thetrips they both took to get there. All in all, I was impressed. As Justblaze said, certainlyneat what I'd have been doing on a Tuesday night.
