I'm gonna vent here, because I can.Well, I've been on a little break from poker for the last week. This weekend though, I took the gf shopping and there is a casino in the mall, so I decided it was a good time to get back on the horse. I played 3/6 for about a half hour and hit quads when two people had boats (they both had extremely short stacks and I didn't make much, but meh), and flopped a flush against pocket AAs. I left up $40 and felt like my luck may be changing. Then, last night I hit the 4/8 tables that I normally play, and it was back to the same thing. The table was a good one, and I was only playing for about an hour and a half and had split one pot. I was up a measly $15, but felt I was playing good. Then the following 5 hands came, one after the other. From memory:#1. me: A,K off (I limped up front, and no one raised ... oops!)Flop ... 2, A, 5 rainbow ... (I bet this flop, and then 3-bet when I got raised)Turn ... 10 (I bet and get called by one guy)River ... 4 (I check / call)Opponent shows 4,5 off, for 2 pair#2. me: Qd, 10dFlop: Jd, Ks, 7s (I call a bet from up front)Turn: As ( I bet, 1 callers)River: 4d (I bet, guy calls)Opponent shows 6s, 3s for the flush#3. 8,8 in the small blindFlop : 7,5,2 rainbow (I bet, 3 callers)Turn: 5 (I bet, one caller)river: Q (I check and call the bet)Opponent shows 5,3 off for trips#4. (Now this one I know I played bad) Me: QQ (raise preflop, 2 callers)Flop: Kh, 7h, 3s (I bet out and get raised, I re-raise and it gets capped). My opponent was in the bb and to be honest I didn't think he had a K .... until he capped it!!)Turn: Kc (now, I'm back to thinking he doesn't have K) I bet out, he callsRiver: 10h ( I check, he checks)Opponent shows 7,7 for the boat. Uggghhh#5. This was my last one ... from the bb, I get dealt A,Koff and re-raise my last 8 dollars to make it 10 total pre-flop. I get two callersFlop: Qc, 9s, QdTurn: KdRiver: 2dOpponent 1: Ad, Jd ... Opponent 2: 5d, 6d. The point of this post is .... well, I dont' have one.I can very rarely bring myself to re-buy after something like this. I get super negative and just leave. I think I look at the time it's going to take me to win back those chips, and then turn a profit and it seems too daunting. Why? ... I don't know. I have a really hard time staying in a game when I lose right off the bat. Anyway, I just felt like venting on this shitty Monday morning. cheers, ray.

There is a casino in the mall? That's crazy.
there's also a roller-coaster, a water show with a sea-lion, and lots of other weird sit, oh ya they had a hockey rink too. Only no ice, and they were playing lacrosse on it. Now that's crazy!

Those really aren't very bad beats. What's the point of this post? I mean, I know you're venting, but are you steaming about bad beats or your bad play? Not to be a jerk, but perhaps you need a reality check about 4-8 holdem.
Yes, I realize this, hence why I posted in General and not the Bad Beat forum. They're the in-between hands, IMO ... the ones that could go either way. I don't think they were played that badly on my part either. But I could be totally wrong on this assumption. If you would like too, I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice on how you would have played the hands differently. And there is really no point ... I think I mentioned that in the op.and yes, ... In Edmonton .. West Ed.

I wouldn't have called up front to try a reraise preflop with AK.I wouldn't have called the capped betting on the flop with QQ. Other than that, I don't think you made any mistakes.

So basically, you can go pick up a shirt for the night, look at underage high school girls, go to a theme park, and play decent limit poker all in one place?Where is this utopia that you speak of?

The West Edmonton Mall ... In Edmonton, AB.I got an added bonus too, the lacrosse team was doing some publicity thing to start the season, so there cheerleaders put on a little show. Then they were all over the mall handing out schedules and stuff. Nice eye-candy if you have to be stuck in a crowded mall all day.

I agree that I didn't play either of these hands very well.

Post-flop play with AK was good.

Isn't 0 degrees Celcius = 32 degrees Farenheit?Freezing.I know my trivia. But I'm not sure I spelled Farenheit correct. So I'm not that smart.

For the Americans, that's the same as going from 70 oF to 0 oF in one week
