a night with phil

and 400 othersNight started out with a 30 minute in line wait ( doesnt he know who i am?) and some eye candy as 20 somthing girls bounced around in next to nothing clothing handing out green bowties which must be worn to gain entry. Yes floresent green bow ties!In the door i was greated with free beer and shots. Well thats the way to get everyone on your side. The 64 screens were playing some montage that looked like it was done by a 4 year old with bad clip art skills of half naked women and phil. Im sure his wife loves this.There was a drawing to play a single table and the winner would move on to play phil. Of course with my luck my name came out of the box second. So i thought single table no problem i do this daily. So i sit down and the dealer who seems to be in a rush states 3 minute blinds 20 minutes whoever has highest chip count wins. (there doing 7 of these as fast as possiable.) So here we go speed ball poker fold fold fold no wait that was aces ok ill play. all in 2 caller im up. dealer announces 5 hands to go. HUH?next hand 5 people all in one winner who had 88 against jj kk ak now it gets interesting i decide i have to go all in twice to win. with 4 of us left and big money has to call me. 7 2 bleh all in any way no callers i show. Next hand KK all in big money calls A7 os blank blank blank blank ace. Oh well he deserves to play phil he is as lucky as chris.While this was going on there wasa piercing voice in the back of my mind, Oh wait phil had already started his speech. BAsically he was showing the heads up championchip and commenting on how great he looked in the fetal position as Fergason would pull out yet another one outer that he should have won. He then said how much fans appreciated him and he bought them all dom periognn (sp) but not us he said. He took questions and seemed to look at me at one point when i raised my hand he said i belive i may have misheard no questions from fullcontact.yes i was wearing my shirt. He then started the autograph session as people brought up books and dealers there COA's. I have a friend John who was in a auto accident and suffers from a mild form of twitching. He is one of the nicest and toughest poker players ive ever met. i was in back of line he was in front i took a picture of him getting one of his books signed. He got the other one out and phil said one item per then i saw after him a guy with 3 poker chips and 2 playinng cards all got signed and a COA. This upset me a little so i got out of line grabbed the second book of johns and went back in line got it signed for him. You will see once I get all the pictures up phil gave his photo thumbs up for everyone except for me haha I still think it was the fullcontact shirt. I also got photos of his father who was there along with some guy whoi was the loser of amazing race 2.I decided to call it an early night not watch the rest of the events why would i my georgeouss wife was on her way home from work WIFE > PHILAll in all im probably spoiled from going to Daniels and having a personal level like that cant be beat by a circus.Oh last thing to addPhil stated that the announcer who said there was a rivelry between him an chan, which he stated no such rivelry, gave him the bad boy of poker personality. He said a few months of go his dad and him were walking out of a casino and his dad wanted to hit him. Phil told his dad dont do that i just sent him a autograph dvd collection and christmas cards and shirts. His dad said why. He said he has made him 50 million dollars with that comment. hmm 50 million so when is the heads up with Daniel Phil?pictures will be up as soon as i figuree why i cant load them and keep geting an IO error

I enjoyed hearing Phil speak last night, it was interesting, though, by no means really informative what so ever....He is just as he appears on t.v and even came out to the podium in the dimly lit bar wearing his full poker uniform you see him in at every tournament complete with sunglasses, and even Headphones...wtf do you have headphones on for phil?...I had $10 that he would come out in complete usual poker garb with sunglasses/everything, and of course I won that bet.They displayed on a big screen behind him key hands in his National head up matches while he discussed them play by play against each of his opponents, pausing briefly between each turn of a card to discuss the hand a little...With the exception of one or two maybe, EVERY hand was simply Phil getting a lucky turn or flop with less than stellar hands, and outdrawing his opponent (quite funny). Nowhere was there any outplaying by Phil, besides with Antonio Esfandiari maybe, or deep insightful strategy necessarily, he would simply stop the tape and say "see how good im playing here" pointing to the miracle turn card he just got on the screen and smiling and getting a joke in with the crowd....While amusing, that simply became his schtick of the night as he repeated this line atleast 5 times, and of course it was a huge deal to him when his opponent (Jesus) sucked out on him twice to catch his miracle cards to beat him, and suddenly Jesus played the hand wrong/horrible etc....Never did he outplay his opponent necessarily on tape, and it kind of left me wondering wtf it was all about, and what any poker player was supposed to take away from his "lecture".....pretty much nothing but entertainment value is all it was-

I think Jason has a good story in here if he can SLOW IT DOWN and use some punctuation/syntax. I'm not trying to be the language police, but this story really, really needs some editorial oversight and I think it could be a very entertaining look at an event most of us won't get to go to.

Just to clarify for others he was talking about Norman Chad as he simply mentioned his name while speaking and someone shouted out from the audience what he thought if him....."hate him?" Phil asked "the guys made me 50 million dollars, blah blah blah" he went on about it for several minutes including a story about how his father punched him (phil) in the shoulder as they were walking out of the casino adding: "ooh man I'd just like to punch him" referring to Norman Chad...He talked about how His father and family dislike him because of the way he has gone after Phil in the past, and Phil was responding with how much publicity, aka money that has in turn converted towards Phil, since he branded him the "bad boy of poker" etc., so he should be thanking the guy and sending him christmas cards.....After about 3 minutes of listening to Phil speak, I immediately realized that this guy simply loves to hear himself talk....I dig him though, seems like a nice guy, and he's quite a character.He opened his speech talking about how he ended up in Austin (flew from Vegas this morning) and spent the day at one of the lakes we have here in town, taking a swim, and then hanging out and shooting hoops with Andy Roddick, (tennis pro originally from Austin) betting $1,000 dollars a shot....He then alluded to the fact that he had lost around 10 k "or something"-P.
