I wouldnt neccesarily call it cheating. All i really did was test his intelligence. He was dumb and he mucked. Any schmuck would have asked to see my cards and i would have smiled and mucked.
Regardless it's bad for your image to be pulling plays like this off especially in a B&M casino where it's a lot shadier than a regular casino. You might not be able to get action again at this place doing stuff like this and other players might not want to play with you either.

Listen powerwheels, He was the one who brought up the damn wheelchair reference. Go flame and threaten him.
Just messing with you....I know you've gotten yourself backed into a corner and now there's no good way out...this thread will die soon...it'll be ok.

i wouldnt steal from a blind man though. That i consider wrong. However, if your dumb enough to not ask to see my top pair when i tell you i have it, then ship your chips this way.
Well, just view the moron that didn't ask to see your cards as a blind guy. He was blind to the fact that someone at the table would shoot an angle on him. With all the influx of new players into the game, there are a ton of clueless marks. Some people are just trusting by nature. As you say, you only did it once, but you seemed proud of that fact and continued to defend your actions. You seem like a nice enough guy (and a WTC fan...Ironman was my fav solo album that any member ever put out), but I just am not the type of person that would shoot an angle. On a side note, what happens if Player A shoots this angle and lies about his cards, and Player B asks to see them? Is Player A penalized in any way besides looking like an ass in front of the table? That seems like something that might be left up to the floor's discretion, which could end up costing you in some way (playing privelages, etc).Patrick

Do you think perhaps you are taking this a lil too serious. Take this as a lesson if you will, Always ask to see you opponents cards. Cuz there are assholes like me that will do shady things
I still consider it cheating and you never answered my other question which is:If I turn around or am distracted for any reason and nobody is looking and you can lift my cards out from under my card protector and look at them, do you?Yeah not quite the same thing as what you did, but if you look at my cards it is cheating, unless of course I foolishly show them. How is intentionally lying about your hand with the intent to get the other guy to fold not cheating?Sure he could and should have demanded you show, but he was a trusting guy.It is still cheating!

I learned that lesson long ago, and through reading countless similar discussions of the topic on RGP, I've learned dozens of ways to angle shoot another player. That doesn't mean I'd do it. If by taking it too seriously you mean putting some thought into my posts before replying, then sure. Another lesson I learned long ago: Don't put anything in print that will be archived that you might regret later.:-)Patrick

I angle-shoot. You guys dont. What do you want me to tell ya, Dont play me. Like i said for the 4th time, i did it once because the situation was right.
Like I said earlier in the thread 'You are welcome to do what you want, and unless you are at my table, I could care less.'GL,Patrick

Okay, How many of you guys go to casinos to make friends. Depending on what time of mood im in, usually im there to make money.  Call me unethical but i wont take it to heart. Ive done it once and i made money and loved it.As for the guy who said something about giving me a beating...Ill tell you what you can beat. As a matter of fact im gonna pay you a visit tommorow morning around breakfast time and fart in your pancakes. Then you can really call me unethical.
:club: Nice. Personally, I like the play that you made, except for the fact that you actually lied about your hand. It's better to just tell the other guy that if he missed his draw he should just get rid of his cards or show down. Like that article that was posted here the other day.

You miss your draw on the river so you check but the other guy in the hand checks behind you. If he says he missed or he asks you what you have you hold your cards in front of you and say top pair and wait for him to muck his cards.
One other sticking point with this example: after your opponent checks, the action's still live, and it's on you. Your options are show (contest the pot) or muck (concede the pot). Tricking your opponent into mucking out of turn doesn't nullify your decision, and I think a lot of dealers would force you to make it – i.e., turn 'em up if you want the money – with the muck-behind as a foregone conclusion. So yeah, you lied and broke the rules and got away with it.

Very nice Alf!I was thinking the very same thing!Weak=StrongStrong=WeakVery few people know enough to mix this up enough to pull it off.  I don't really see anything wrong with his angle play, but I agree that he got very lucky that it worked.  If his opponent had been a better player he would have come back over the top or just smooth called and the teacher would have quickly become the student.
I remember once...I was in a LIVE NL Home game....and I got dealt the JT of Hearts.....The flop came 896 with two hearts...The Guy that had raised preflop then bet about half the pot (About $10) on the Flop...and I immediately made him for extreme strength....like a set or at least aces.....I smooth call and planned to raise him off if I hit my hand because I was certain that he would have put the rest of his stack in with set or Aces...or whatever he held...(I was certain he didn't have the nut flush draw)....the turn came a lovely T......he checked........now of course I had crap (I am sure that my tens were no good)...but this would kill the action and I can attempt to take the pot anyway with the scary board....he looks a little anxious now...so I bet the pot.....He counts out a raise....(I then started to call myself an idiot for not taking the free card)...he then CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!.....River coming.......It comes a total turd 3 of spades....I then notice that he starts to play with his chips and count them out like he is preparing a bet...he then checks....I then said to myself..."what an idiot..he is pulling the chip dancing trick hoping I check it down!"...I then count out a bet the size of the pot....and he is STILL Putting chips in a stack like he is gonna raise me an amount that is going to crap my pants.... :club: I chuckle......and I then look at the guy and say: "Dude...that chip dancing trick only works on somebody with a marginal hand and weak enough to fall for it...." "I am neither...But I will make it easy for you to call though..." and I then bet a little less than half the pot (about $55)....The guy then chuckles and launches into a diatribe on how I can possibly think that my sevens where good on the flop and how I couldn't release an open ended straight draw to save my life...and he then tells me "OMG (Like if he is reading my mind)...it's worst!....you called me with QJ preflop and hit the gutshot on me!...." "Nice catch!" (A regular mind reader this guy was) he then proceeds to fold two black Kings face up..I then couldn't control myself and said "You know...if you didn't pull that Bullshat with the chip dancing...I might have not known that you were hoping to check it down....so I decided to bluff you." I then showed him my hand....Tilt was the not the word for what this guy proceeded to do.....let's just say that I followed him to an ATM at around 7 in the morning....
