kaisersoze12 0
For those of you that multi-table, I need advice. Should I just get a big monitor (21" or so) that can do 1600x1200 or should I get a few video cards and expand my desktop? I think at 1600x1200 I can fit four tables in the screen with very little overlap, which is the most I will ever do.I already own two 15" flat panel monitors, but would have to buy the multiple video cards.Any advice from those experienced.... thanks. Got for $15 on ebayyeah the only think i dont like about the 2005fpw is that its 1680x1-5-, so the tables overlap vertically. but the 2405 fpw is like 1900x1280 or something... mmmmm thats alot of screen
joeythep 0
I would recommend just setting your resolution at 1600x1200. There should n't be any overlap with four tables at that setting, and it's just alot easier on the eyes when everything is on one monitor, instead of flicking your eyes back and forth. Any monitor 19" or bigger should be big enough to do so without too much eye strain, but I used a 17" for that purpose until I got my 21"

I start wiggling the thing like crazy trying to find where I last left it on the screens. Makes me slow...One monitor sounds good. I went the flat panel route recently on my desktop when my old monitor died and got two free 15" ones, so I guess I gotta buy something.

I am not a fan of Dell and think the HP machines are much better (as long as you do not get that crappy Pavilion or Presario junk).Call this dude. He is awesome. (800) 658-1131 xt76612ps. Don Giovanni 0
be a man and just play 4 tables with 50% overlap on a single screen like i do.
kaisersoze12 0
be a man and just play 4 tables with 50% overlap on a single screen like i do.Would you kindly explain how that would make me manly? 50% of my gut overlaps my belt and I do not enjoy that, so the whole overlap on the tables would suck. I feel a little stupid asking all you computer wiz's but I figured I gotta start somewhere.

That is a combonation of video card and monitor. they should both support 1600x1200.

Anyone have reccomendations? (Desktop)Since you're in Chicago, keep an eye out for Computer Shows. Don't buy the first time you go, just look. When you have the money together, find a vendor who you've seen before. They'll give you twice the system for the same price. I bought a powerful machine with a massive harddrive for about 1/2 what Dell would have charged me.I will add one caveat though, I'm assuming you are at least semi computer lierate and can install an OS, and set up a machine. If not wait until Dell and HP get into a pricewar and find the best deal.

Although I'm sure if I couldn't figure it out, I could get someone to do it.
Suited_Up 2
Something like this ya mean?I imagine there is a big one at some point though, this one looks kinda small, at a college. http://www.greatmidwestcomputershow.com/info.htm
Bijjy 0
I have a 5k setup, my friend has a 140$ monitor and his works just as well. Go out and buy a cheapo 21" or 19" CRT monitor with 1600x1200 resolution and you will be able to 4 table perfectly.

They don't have to be huge. Just go, see who's there, and what they're offering. Then the next time it comes to town, find a vendor who was there the last time. I've gotten a couple this way and have been very happy.

Note: this is a 17" Flat Panel - not CRT. It is fine for 4 tabling but not super clear for general use at 1600x1200. Let me know what you think."I just went to Compusa and bought the Norwood Micro 17" LCD monitor for $249.99 with tax. Check out this link - (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=313561&pfp=hpf6). I can't believe it works at 1600x1200 but it does. The 19" model did not. Make sure it says Model# HD17A on the back. I am playing four tables on it right now. Had to change my display options in Windows under the Settings > Advanced > monitor tab to NOT hide modes the monitor can't display. Awesome!!!!" It really does work at 1600x1200. Check out the link <http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=313561&pfp=hpf6> - it is a screen shot of my LCD. I went to CompUSA and they had about fifteen 17" and 15" monitors all showing the same image. I change the screen resolution to 1600x1200 and they all went blank except for 3. Two of those had a warning about that display mode on the screen. Only one (and it was the cheapest) displayed without any message. I asked to buy one and they went back and got me the same model (or so they said). When I looked at the box it was slightly different. There were speakers on the bottom. Mine did not have any. They said it would work the same. I said show me. They took it out of the box, hooked it up and it DID NOT work. Note: Neither did the 19" version??? So they said they were out of that exact model so I bought the display model. So far, so good. Like I said, make sure it says Model# HD17A on the back. However, I don't know if the model they tried to sell me that did not work says that or not. When I got home and hooked it up it did not give me the option of changing to the 1600 x 1200. I had to change my display options in Windows under the Settings > Advanced > monitor tab to NOT hide modes the monitor can't display. If you order one make sure you can return it if it does not work. Let me know if it does. I changed my display font size to be a little larger and now it is awesome. I am 4 tabling all the time. Good Luck.
bocablkr 0
Sorry Guys,I just tried the Compusa link and it does not seem to work - they may not sell that monitor anymore. You might be able to find it somewhere else. Also, the screenshot link was wrong, the correct link is here -http://img140.echo.cx/img140/2590/4tables0lj.jpg
kaisersoze12 0
My problem is solved. The HP contact I posted earlier in this thread found me a 23" CRT (I have a big desk so it doesn't matter) monitor that will do even better than 1600x1200 for an amazing $329. Shipping included. It is a refurb with a small ding in the plastic around the monitor, but still comes with a full warranty. Sweet.and yes I am computer literate. Guess I better be since I own my own corporate computer network consulting business. I deal with servers, routers and security all day long though and leave the workstation crap to others, hence why I asked the original question.
