I step away for an hour or two and look what happens to my thread..ridiculous...Radiohead is no longer the best band in the world after three consecutive average albumsColdplay only really has three albums so you really really have to wait on them before making "best band" statementsTool.......really? These are the same people that think Dream Theater is the standard by which modern rock n roll should live byWhy hasn't anyone mentioned U2 or REM? Too good for too long maybe?Someone posted about earlier bands and mentioned the Eagles in the same breath with the Beatles....seriously? If you want to make an out-on-a-limb pick, go with the Kinks...vastly underrated both in musical originality and influence

1. White Stripes: Get Behind Me Satan2. Beck: Guero3. Wilco: A Ghost Is Born
Wrong wrong, super wrong because this album came out last year...1) Sufjan Stevens- Illinois2) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah- Self Titled3) Bloc Party- Silent AlarmAlso, Radiohead is EASILY the greatest band of the last 10 years. They released what might be the greatest album ever (OK COMPUTER), and only followed it up with Kid A and Amnesiac. Critics agree: Radiohead is the correct choice.GreenDay sucks, Tool's pretty good.Biggie is the greatest rapper ever, and the Madvillian album last year rates as my favorite rap album since Ghostface's Supreme Clientele. All these things I say are correct.Ice

Wow I agree with everything you just said. Except I might put Clap your hands say yeah! first, but it's too close to call IMO.

Green Day is the greatest band of the past decade.Flame away but it's the truth.
No they aren't, Radiohead is, and it isn't even close.
No, they're second. Tool is and it isn't even close.
Renae, you like Tool? Now I may really be in love. Do you like A Perfect Circle as well?

Absolutely! You're a fan? Sweet! Ron Mexico, will you marry me? :club: I love Tool and APC both. I've seen Tool live 3 times and APC twice. Ever been to a show? Maynard is amazing live. Anyway, I could ramble on and on.Emotive wasn't one of my favorites, though. I can't wait for the new Tool album to be out. Supposed to be sometime this year.

Haha, thanks to you and Hoosier Alum.By the way, I had to flip a coin for the first and second spots. I change every week, and I am pretty sure CYHSY and the Sufster's album are tied. It was tails, so I put Illinois first.I'm surprised my "Ghostface/Supreme Clientele" remark didn't draw any ire.Ice

Kanye West=flavor of the month. Hip Hop or whatever doesn't have any staying power. While I don't agree with GD as the best band in the last 10 years, I will say they are still good quality stuff. How many hip hop artists are putting out quality albums that were doing it ten years ago?
JayZ until he retired.Tupac would be if he was alive. Every album he did was good. And most of the specific artists don't have staying power, but the genre as a whole has more than any other.
Got into the argument last night that if Pac doesn't die, hip-pop never happens. No 50 cent, no Diddy, no 18 new artists with bling videos popping up a month. Any thoughts?

Best Albums of the Last Year (no particular order):Surfjan Stevens - IllinoisKaiser Chiefs - EmploymentBloc Party - Silent AlarmBeck - GueroBright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's MorningSound Tribe Sector 9 - ArtifactLCD Soundsystem - LCD SoundsystemDane Cook - RetaliationMars Volta - Frances the MuteAnd I haven't listened to the newest New Pornographers album yet, but that might jump on the list as well. I'm sure I am leaving a few out, but that is what I can think of off the top of my head. If you disagree, that is fine, we are all entitled to our own opinions. And yes I know the Dane Cook album contains no music, but I laugh my ass off everytime I listen to it, so I had to throw it on there. If anyone has some suggestions of some new stuff to check out, let me know, I am always looking for new music to listen to. Thank you.

They [Green Day] are the best live band imaginable
Have you seen Radiohead live before?
or any other band?
In all due fairness, I hear Green Day puts on a good live show...this is regardless of what you think of the music. I would much rather hear about how great people think Green Day are then hear people talk about how great they think Nickelback or Linkin Park are.

Have you seen Radiohead live before?
Or Pearl Jam?
26 times...Drunk encoring Eddie Vedder is my favorite musician ever.Seriously... when the first time I heard him say "Fuck Clear Channel!" then play "Soon Forget" followed by "Baba O'Reilly" I actually had an orgasm, which was totally unrelated to the handjob I was getting at the time.God, Renae... if only you weren't married/imaginary.Ice
