ivey v juanda...did he call or fold?

Recommended Posts

From Cardplayer: With the board showing J-10-9-K-7 John Juanda bets $65,000 on the river, into Phil Ivey. Ivey folds and Juande shows him A-Q for the nut straight, winning a $200,000 pot. From Pokerwire: John Junada takes a chunk out of Phil Ivey's stackJohn Juanda made a pre-flop raise to 16k under the gun and was called by Phil Ivey from the big blind. The flop came [10♥][J♦][9♥] and both players checked. The turn came [K♠] and John Juanda made a 30k bet. Phil Ivey called the bet and the river came [7♠]. John Juanda opened the betting once again for 65k and after long thought on Ivey's part, was called. Juanda turned up [A][Q] for the nut straight. Ivey mucked his cards and Juanda too a pot of over 220k.Did ivey fold...or call? which site do we believe.

CAlled and mucked makes the most sense. Why would Juanda show a nut hand there?

Quoting CardPlayer as a source for accuracy is unwise.Ray

Cuz he was called? You have to show don't you?If he wasn't called...it was stupid to show Ivey the absolute nuts.

Smash is just saying that Ivey probably called because Juanda wouldn't show otherwise. Alf, we are having a DEBATE on whether Ivey called on the river.

this is getting confusing now...did Ivey call on the river or not?If he didn't...Juanda showing him his hand is dumb...

No one knows. If only cardplayer was RELIABLE We would know. But I am guessing that Ivey called; Juanda wouldn't show w/o having to.

Well if the pot was over 200k he had to have called. 32k Preflop, 60k on the turn, plus the 130k on the river. It makes much more sense that he called the river bet.
Lets do the math...32+32+60+60+blinds = 200k
