shady poker sites - pokerroom.com

Recommended Posts

I have played at pokerroom ever since I started playing online. I want to believe it is all done properly and above board but the nagging feeling that all is not well with it is really starting to bug me.Imagine my surprise when I notice a forum dedicated to online poker and decide to look and see if anything has been written about the site. Lo and behold the first thread I come to is questioning pokerroom's integrity...I don't think it is so much the bad beats as I do appreciate that the worse the player you are playing against is the more likely you are to experience a bad beat, however...I never cease to be amazed at the runner runners you see, or how often your opponent has almost no outs and hits one. I know it always sounds like bad players whining about their terrible luck in situations like these but the more players that question it the more forcible the argument becomes. And the thing that tweaks my beak the most is this... You will never see a long head to head on pokerroom. When you play a single table tourney there it just seems that 4 or 5 hands get played and then wham, both players get big pocket pairs and both move all in. It happens all the time on the site. Throughout the game you it also seems as if they are trying to make it look more exciting by there being big hands (boats beaten by four of a kinds etc) - I mean how often do you see that happen? Once a session at pokerroom. Even that though might not be considered terribly suspicious until you consider this...The sooner the game is over, the sooner they can start a new game and collect 10 more rakes (or whatever the +n is called when you buy in to a tourney). I don't want to believe they do this, because surely they have too much to lose if it's proved, however I am going to play at one of the other sites for a while. If the same thing continues, I will put it down to me gambling too much.If not...[/i]

1. You see a lot more hands online.2. The quality of opposition is probably higher online.
1. Correct2. No. Just the opposite. You see more bad beats when your opponents are playing weaker hands. Online players suck for the most part. Taking a lot of bad beats is usually an indicator that your opponents are bad.

The sooner the game is over, the sooner they can start a new game and collect 10 more rakes (or whatever the +n is called when you buy in to a tourney). That is incorrect. SNG's start as soon as the open SNG's fill up. It has nothing to do with when games are ending.

"That is incorrect. SNG's start as soon as the open SNG's fill up. It has nothing to do with when games are ending."Ok, I can accept that; still find it hard to trust the site though...

Then play somewhere else or just stop playing online.

I go back and forth on the issue of trusting poker sites. It seems to me when I have not played at a site for a few weeks and I go back, I suddenly get a lot of good hands. Then, after a while, I can't catch a break, start losing to 20:1 draws, and my money begins to fade away. But without any good objective data, I can't say that the results are any different than casino or home games. However, poker websites exist to make money and they have access to your statistics and all the cards. It defies logic and the lessons of history to think they would not skew the game in their favor. A slight shift in the results would be virtually undetectable and could earn them millions more... why wouldn't they do it?The house edge in a casino rages from 1% to 3% on most games and they make a fortune. What could it be worth to a computer operated gambling site to only up their edge to 5%? I do know one guy who used to play roulette online and he suspected the results were rigged. One time he placed a bet on every number but one... that one number he didn't bet hit. He stopped playing on-line.Koroshiya

If not shady at least curious. I play Pacific Poker, Absoloute Poker, UB, Royal Vegas, Party Poker and Planet Poker. I tried Poker Room two different times thinking the first time I had a huge hole in my game. I was consisently outdrawn by weaker hands and got bad beat after bad beat. I cashed out before losing the whole roll the second time. If anyone can make money on this site good for you but I find this to be the most unrealistic site on the net. I play a lot of hands (almost 10.000 so far on Absoloute and 3 times that many on Pacific Poker) and I havd never seen so many bad beats. My opinion is stay away from this site!chazt

I'm brand new to this site, but not to internet gaming, and I see where you guys are coming from with seemingly regular outdraws in internet play, whether it be cash or tourney.I am losing faith in even companies such as Full Tilt and Party Poker lately. And I know that beats happen whether in brick and mortar or online as I play equally in both arenas, but online play seems to feel like screwing me a tad bit more: ie...two outers, runner runner, or just sick coolers. I don't know, maybe it is in my head, but I have compared stories with friends and even strangers at the casino and we all seem to have pretty similar stories with wins and losses. I don't know, I guess I'm rambling, but the amount of things to talk about that go with online gambling is thought provoking.I wish more luck than I've had for all others...

To the people who claim they win at B&M casinos but get screwed online, part of the problem may be that you actually lose at B&B casinos but dont know it.The good thing about online sites is that they keep a very accurate tab on whats in your account. After 1 week, 1 month, or even 1 year, you can tell exactly how much you are up or down. But people people who play strictly in B&M casinos are nortoriuos for keeping bad records (if they even keep records at all). The chances are that the internet is showing you the basic truth that you've been denying all the time. You are losing player.I play at PokerRoom (I'm a Mac user and use the java client). I have found them to be totally legit. They paid my bonus when I cleared it, and I've never seen anything shadey. I did lose when I first joined the site, but that's because of my own faults. Over a given session my own mistakes cost me more than any beat. Now that I'm starting to learn a little bit about what I'm doing, I'm starting to win. Some of the other players need to look in the mirror before they blame the site.

I play at a lot of different sites and casinos. I knew I was a winning player however I never worried about bankroll etc. If i needed more money just put more in the account. I"m also very quick to cash out after a good run. Just this week I cashed out everything but $45 I had at prima. And starting at the lowest limits (which to be honest I never played). I've graduated up to .1/.20 with a $220.00 roll. I"ve been keeping a daily blog http://pokeradventures.blog.ca and using poker tracker as well. I have found leaks that I didn't realize I had. Also because the low limit guys are sooooo bad I've been forced to tighten my game up so much poker tracker considers me a mouse. But these guys will call all ins when you have the nuts. I had 2 guys call all in today when I had the nut boat, and one had the flush and the other maybe had a set or straight (maybe a smaller flush) he mucked so I don't know. All I know is actually having a bank roll that if you lose your buy in your set for another is new to me. I used to buy in for $200 and if it lost net teller another 200. If I won or placed well in a tourney I"d cash back to like 2-3 hundred. This is the first time I"ve actually got proof that I am winning and how much. Oh ya and they won't let ya multi table at a casino LOL

Online Poker isn't rigged, get over it... Or post on the CardPlayer forum where you'll get people agreeing with you. There is NO reason for them to fix the site... Period.

If there was any way to collect on this bet I'd make it.I would bet $100 a head that those of you who think online poker is rigged because of bad beats suffer no less than %50 of your bad beats because you suck at poker.Secondly, of all your bad beats, %75 of them come from slowplaying when you should not be.Third, %25 of you don't really know what a bad beat qualifies as.I have played at pokerroom.com for a long time, and many other sites. I've been a winner here and loser, and the same for other sites. But when I first started playing I took much more bad beats. Why? I think it is because I slowplayed way too much when I shouldn't have. Now sure, you may be more unlucky at one site at the other, I don't think it means anything.I may have been a bit harsh, but I wouldn't doubt it's true for a lot of players.- Jordan

pokerroom is a-ok to me. my minimun $10 deposit is now at about 75-80 in maybe a 1/2 hours play on .25/.50, and a final table finish(8th) in my only MTT(just a $5) so far..... maybe its rigged in my favour. :club:

Long time stalker, but I couldn't resist this one. I have played at pokerroom for well over a year and have consistently won while playing there. When you play in the low limit games, which I assume the majority of us do, or when you play sngs, you have to expect a higher percentage of bad beats. At those low levels money doesn't have a high value to it owners. I have never once thought that the site was rigged and I know many others on the site who feel the same way. I hope that you will learn this, but if not, move to another site. There are plenty of them out there. Also, you might try telling your computer that "I will not accept bad beats." I hear that it works.

I am a mac user, so I can only play at pokerroom. when i first started playing there i definetly thought the site was rigged. there was no doubt in my mind that there was something shady going on. i probably bought in with $50 about 6 times before i didnt lose my initial buy in within a day or two. I decided to call it quits for a while and do some research. i read some books, and put another $50 in about a month ago. now I am up to about $200 with some mild swings in the .50-1NL game. As it turns out, it was not the site at all... it was my horrible playing...

Do you work for Pokerroom.com?Maybe we're paranoid. But as I have said, I've spent many hours on tons of other sites and have suffered plenty of incredible bad beats. It's just that on Pokerroom.com they come one after another. I also don't trust their bonus clearing tracking system.
Hold down shift+ctrl+B after you go all in. That disables the bad-beat algorithm which is on by default.
