Kudos for getting rid of Brown's contract. Having cap space is no excuse. Cap space is an asset in itself. Goodluck with getting anything other than possibly a late round pick for Brown

August 7th and team is pretty much set.   Sounds like the old US Army tv ad's "We do more before 9 am then most people do all day"   AHL ad would read "Canadian Gothic, Dale doing more trades/de

You finally bamboozled someone into taking Brown

In 2013 I had Gost as my #32 overall, and did not take him. I took a couple of players near him in my rankings that I liked more.(O'Regan and Fast)

He is the highest ranked player left from my list that year.

In 2014, I had Gost "ranked" 35th. I had Christian Folin ranked 34. Klingberg #43. All because I watched Folin play that year in exhibition and liked what I saw, and figured Minny needed some off D. I'm an idiot. lol

Yes, based on NHL PPG.

Ghost is at 0.570 ppg

Johansson 0.500

Johansen 0.480

wow. I really thought Johansen would have caught up to 'sson by now.

nice looking team Dale, I like your chances to repeat but as Im sure you know, it will be harder this year to get thru your conference.

I really want that #3 seed. Not only does the #3 seed get to play Shootloose instead of Cheap Thieves in the first round, but they get to play Puck Warfare in the second round and Jay has no goalies for game 2 and 4.

not really see you in pain but it's kind of fun seeing the reaction to the Whalers ups and downs

I had Klingberg and Gostisbehere next 2 on my list... then both got taken and I was flustered and took a guy who is probably out of hockey already.

Dale cut a deal with Shooters for the pick before mine to grab Ghost so I ended up with Klingberg.

Ya I didnt mean I took him ahead of them, I meant I actually had Folin ranked ahead of both. So its not that Im whining about you guys getting my guy, its that for some reason, "my guy" was Folin. Sad.

I recall thinking "hmm, Gost went earlier than I thought" since no one had taken him the year before when I had him ranked reasonably high, I just figured it was another guy who I overvalued.

I love going back to the drafts and seeing what I thought, how it went. I actually thought I had a great draft that year, as I had 3 picks in the 2nd round at the draft and took Scherbak, Barbashev and Pasternak. Really wish I could have kept all 3.

so hard to value d-men before they get to the NHL

A good comparison for Ghost based on their NCAA careers was Matt Gilroy and I used a high pick on him and of course he sucked

Thanks btw. The good thing is that only one of those 10 won't be back next season... Stamkos.

You took Gilroy 10th overall, but that was a crappy draft overall...

yup, 2009. Look at that first round of mostly dog shit. And there weren't even any last round gems either. I was taking Ryan Ellis if he didn't go to Steelheads

Very nostalgic about that draft, first ever for some of us. I cant believe its been 6.5 years since that night at Serges.

Good times.

Lot of us complain that we have been unlucky. But this team had a tough year. You deserved better Dale.

Hope to compete with you next year for division again
