brvheart 1,752
I was too young to understand that Mr. Belvedere was that crazy.
BigDMcGee 3,352
yeah, I'm pretty sure the Seinfeld plot of the in-show TV show, where George becomes Jerry's butler, was directly to make fun of the premise
The Ocho 970
Nailed that shit!
BigDMcGee 3,352
Great theme song, tho... Streaks on the china.. never mattered be for... who cares? Â When you drop kicked your jacket.. as you came through the door, no one glared.. Â blah blah blah, blah blah blah.. Â According to our new arrival.. life is more than mere survival.. and we just might live the good life yet!
The Ocho 970
Bosom Buddies has to be one as well
BigDMcGee 3,352
Just missed the cut. Â two of them are from the 60's, one was syndicated in the 80's
BigDMcGee 3,352
Mr Ed is not on it, also just missed the cut.
SuitedAces21 2,722
jesus man, pick something less obscure next time.
BigDMcGee 3,352
you will absolutely know the ones from the 60's, by reputation if nothing else. Â You might be too young to know how weird the 80's one was. Brvy will know it
BigDMcGee 3,352
I see frau is browsing, I'll give her a shot and then reveal the other 3.
BigDMcGee 3,352
Frau stopped browsing, so here they are... Â My Mother the Car is the Lincoln, and I haven't even watched a moment of it. The premise of this show is, a guy's mother died, and got re-incarnated as his... car. Who talks to him. This was back when there were only three networks, time on air was a precious commodity... and they put THAT on.. Â Mr Belvedere has been covered. Â Hogan's Heroes. I don't think people, on the surface, think this show is that weird. But.. I mean, 20 years after the most brutal war in history, they make a slapstick comedy about a Nazi POW camp? I still don't understand how the hell that got on the air, much less was on the air for like a decade. Oh, those lovable, wacky nazi's! Â And our final entrant, is of course, Small Wonder. A man invents a completely life like robot, in the guise of a 10 year old girl, and brings it home.. and instead of announcing to the world, hey, I've invented this super releastic robot, with legitimate, working artificial intelligence.. he instead keeps her existence a secret. So the wacky neighbors next door, are always trying to figure out the secret. Also, this robot for some reason ages when she gets "upgraded". Also, this robot uses food and drink as coolant. It's a ****ing god damn genius invention, it's shocking that this humble genius wouldn't share his vision with the world.
SuitedAces21 2,722
i've never heard of any of the other three.
BigDMcGee 3,352
My mother the car is infamous. I'd figured you'd have heard of hogan's heroes from confessions of a dangerous mind, if nothing else. It was a huge hit
SuitedAces21 2,722
it's not ringing any bells.
JubilantLankyLad 1,957
I'm not sure HH is a valid choice. It's not a (top 4 representative) weird premise, it's weird timing.
SuitedAces21 2,722
too bad you didn't set up any thread rules, D, because that is a back aching for the lash.
BigDMcGee 3,352
I'm not sure HH is a valid choice. It's not a (top 4 representative) weird premise, it's weird timing. Â I think a slap stick comedy about Nazis would be just as weird today, if not weirder
BigDMcGee 3,352
too bad you didn't set up any thread rules, D, because that is a back aching for the lash. Â Unlike colonel klink, I am not a Nazi.
BigDMcGee 3,352
also just missing the cut: The Jeffersons. I mean, a rich black business owner, in the 70's? Get serious, TV.
SuitedAces21 2,722
i was going to nominate the cosby show and the fresh prince of bel air for that reason, but i didnt want ron thinking i'm racist and misunderstanding the joke.
iTommyGavin81 288
Small Wonder is fantastic. I've probably seen every episode multiple times. My lady and I are the only 2 people in the world I've come across that have seen this show or even heard of it.
The Ocho 970
I think Bosom Buddies belongs over Hogan's Heros. Two guys dress in Drag and hang out as women with the women they date. Just to live in a womens only apartment building (do those exist?). Â Â Greatest American Hero probably just missed the cut as well.
The Ocho 970
Wait, people haven't heard of Small Wonder? I thought that was mandatory TV in the late 80's early 90's.
BigDMcGee 3,352
Fantastic, in the sense that every episode the robot does something that is impossible.
BigDMcGee 3,352
A god damn slap stick comedy, about Nazis. Why doesn't this strike people as weird?
