SuitedAces21 2,723
Sansa is learning how to be Wardeness of the North. She has to be able to suss out plots against her, and she's finally grown up. Plus, the Starks are back in charge. I was fine with it.
Dubey 1,035
gimme a paragraph on a better storyline if its so easy. Slightly better version would have been Sansa was actually serious about accusing Arya(ie. all the previous scenes actually had a purpose other than a red herring for the audience), Arya actually defends herself, then cheat-code Bran steps in with the "you held a knife to his throat" line, LF turns white, then Bran lists off his crimes one by one. Littlefinger breaks down, begs for forgiveness, they hang him, or chop off his head ala Ned Stark (not sure Arya slitting his throat in front of the court is an accepted method of execution. He is still Lord of the Vale, I feel like there should be some consequences from that scene, but there won't be) Or, better yet, he demands trial by combat, nobody steps up as his champion, he has to fight Arya to the death in the courtyard. Essay21 2,387
That doesn't really move the needle.
Dubey 1,035
well, it's better than: multiple episodes of scenes hinting that there is a major rift between Sansa and Arya helped along by Littlefinger, followed by: "I charge you with murder and treason..." *Gasp* "PETER BAELISH" *double gasp!*

SuperJon 175
Finally GOT around to [see what I did there?] watching this show. Just finished the 1st season. 2 things. 1. I really wish I'd started this series a long time ago. Already it's one of my all time faves. 2. I really hope it continues to be close to this good. Favorite characters so far Tyrion - Dinklage The blonde dragon chick The red headed brothel lady (Ros?) Sam Arria Stark Joffrey but only because he's so bad. It's like they force you to hate him and that's cool. I've heard the name Jon Snow a lot, but have no idea how the character develops. Right now he just seems like a little bitch. Based on his popularity I'm guessing he'll get added to the list at some point. I'm reading along with the thread as I watch, so not going to see any responses to this for a while. I've managed to avoid any major spoilers. The only thing I'm aware of is a big scene where a lot of people die. I remember hearing about it, and how violent it was, but don't know the details. I really wish I'd started this series a long time ago. Already it's one of my all time faves. 2. I really hope it continues to be close to this good. Spoiler Alert: It doesn't stay as good. It does for a while.. and then, it falls off a bit. It's still great, and I'll still watch every episode as it comes out.. But the show starts out it's first few seasons so strong, that it's incredibly difficult to stay at that level.
Essay21 2,387
Don’t listen to this hater, Jonny. Show is still at the top of its geme, and will finish as the GOAT.
SuperJon 175
Update on where I'm at now. Just started season 4. Joffrey is dead. Wow! Did not see that one coming. Hated the little bitch so I'm glad karma gave him what he deserved. Red Wedding scene. In terms of, "holy shit I can't believe this is happening" moments on a tv series. This one is right near the top alongside Negan face bashing on Walking Dead and Walter watching Jane choke to death on Breaking Bad. I did see one reply by BigD where he said the series isn't as good as it continues. While no season as a whole has been as good as season 1, there have still been some really good moments. One of my favorites was when Danerys (sp?) acted like she didn't speak Valeryian and then...POW!! Fluent mother ****** and kills that Ben Kingsley looking slave master dude. I'm still really enjoying the show. Excited to see what happens next. One last rambling observation. I really love how this show makes you feel a certain way about the characters and then can make those feelings change. I hated Theon after he took down Winterfell and was happy when he got captured, but then I really felt bad for him when the torture scenes started. I imagine he's eventually going to die, but a part of me hopes he gets some redemption before going out.

I just watched the entire series again, I do it at least once a year. I think the biggest problem as the series progresses is that the storytelling and pace of things get compacted unlike the first season. Without spoiling anything for you though on the other hand from a technical standpoint it's keeps getting better and better. Some of the battle scenes that you haven't seen yet are truly great.

I agree with all of that. I think the Red Wedding is the peak of the show, from a story telling standpoint. I think it's a slow down hill turn in the quality of story telling after that. Not that it ever gets bad, and there are many great characters, iconic scenes, and as Bob said some truly incredibly, cinematic battle scenes. But I do think the story telling suffers from the pace, and the amount of balls they are trying to keep in the air at the same time.
Theraflu 1,035
Once the show passed the books, they really took ignoring pace to some special levels. And somehow, George managed to go the other direction in pace, post-Red Wedding.

Dubey 1,035
I think the pacing of the books would be easier to stomach if it wasn't 8+ years between each one now.

FCP Bob 1,321
You try reading Feast for Crows a third time. It's not fun. I watch the TV series at least once per year but have little desire to read the books again for just that reason.
hank213 1,823
I keep telling myself that I had to have missed important stuff in Dance because I was skipping pages quite frequently when I read it the first time. I feel like I should give it another read but I just can't bring myself to attempt the slog through it. Just feels like an incredible time waster.
Essay21 2,387
Even if actually puts out the final books I’m not reading them. I’ll get the story off Wikipedia. I mean he ending I need to see is coming next year on HBO, and that is all that matters now.
SuperJon 175
And I'm done. Took me a little less than a month, but I finished the entire series. I have to give this show a 10. I'm sure I could find things to nitpick, but in all honesty, everything good about this show far outweighs the few bad things. Ramsay Bolton is probably my favorite villain on any series. Cersei might be a close second.

BigDMcGee 3,355
RIP Ros. She deserved better. Cersei is my favorite villain I think. Ramsey was a bit one dimensional. If I'm going one dimensional villains on this show, make mine the one that can raise an undead dragon.
SuperJon 175
Okay I've had time to think it over and I need to deduct half a point. Only because it's ridiculous to think the characters are so stupid that it took them 7 years and an omniscient cripple to figure out Baelish [sic] was bad. Any word on if they'll be adding more episodes seeing as how it's not going to air until next year? Otherwise I worry they will rush through a lot to wrap everything up. hank213 1,823
last i knew the final season was going to be even fewer episodes than the penultimate season. however, i've also read that each episode is going to be significantly longer. like possibly run times more in line with a theatrical release film.
