Wandigo 1
I know there's a few of us from the northwest ohio & michigan area, just wondering if anyone's gonna play the main event next weekend. I played the one in Indiana a few weeks ago and just have to say if you can afford it, take the shot because it's probably one of the weakest fields in a live poker tournament I've ever seen.. pretty much equivalent to a $5 freezeout online. The buy-in is $1500+150, and they're running tons of sattys leading up to it. Pretty turbo'ish structure, 15k starting 40min levels but if you can't get anything going, just nit it up until antes and it's so easy to go into rape mode and pushbot all over the elderly....Plus the final table is televised!HPT Website with dates/timesStructure for Main EventStructures for everything elseShould be at least $150,000 for first, probably more. (Very topheavy payouts)See you there!

Wandigo 1
Mbreon reminded me a PM at how awful these events are run. So for anyone playing, I highly recommend getting there very early or pre-registering the night before. The last one in Indiana was supposed to have 300 players max per heat, but they only allowed 150 to play on Day 1 because "they ran out of forms." Yeah that's right, apparently they didn't have a printer handy and couldn't print out enough registration forms and had to turn a bunch of people away.Along with that, the end of day 1 took about an hour just for everyone to bag their chips because one girl was running the whole thing, and had to individually come to each table, count our chips, color everything up (If someone had 70,000, they took all the chips and gave them 7 10k chips), have us sign forms and then she had to watch us as we bagged them.On Day 2, everyone had to re-color up their 10k chips because the HPT apparently doesn't carry enough chips to provide to more than one heat. They also ran out of ante chips for 1000-2000-100 and each table had maybe 15-20 black 100 chips total, so it was quite a mess.
mbreon 0
Not even fair to compare Soaring Eagle to Majestic Star, the latter being the worst casino I have ever stepped foot in. But the last time the HPT was at Soaring Eagle, the cash game tables were just insanely unorganized and lines were very long (20-30+ people for any game, which is huge for them). The satellite tourney started about 35-40 minutes late and the floor people were generally confused at all times. I'm sure they have learned a thing or two from last time, but I would just temper expectations. Regardless, I'll still be up there and down to get a beer or ten with any other FCPers who will be there.
Wandigo 1
Well yeah the Majestic is certainly the dumpiest and dirtiest casino I've ever stepped foot in, but it's still the people of HPT who were running the show and completely unorganized. I just hope they get their shit together a little better for this event.

Maybe even try a sat for the hell. I came in 4th in a tourney there last year. It was a small one 45 people. Maybe I will go down this weekend. I hope they put it in there business conference rooms cause there poker room is small.
