troyomac 0
Rumor has it that Ray just lost a monster in Stud8 for half his stack, and is down to 15K.MarkI had started the day off terribly, and was short for most of the day. By this time the avg stack was 35k, and I had finally won some chips (oh funny story, I should tell it first)...--- story in a story --- Phil was on my left, and we had been joking a bit and pretty friendly to each other since he came to my table. In a hand of O8, he raised UTG, and it folded to me. I called with AcQx3c3x, and the flop came J34 rain. I check raised he called, turn was a 3, I bet he called, river was a T or something, and I bet again. Phil says "call" but instantly after says "wait wait wait". He then tried to fold, and that's when I spoke up and just asked the dealer if his call was binding. The dealer called the floor over, his call was binding and Phil got upset with me "I'm gonna bust you kid, you're gonna get what you have coming to you". I'm like "what you think the rules don't apply to you because you're 'Phil Hellmuth'? You know what you did." And he's like "yeah and you know what you did, pretty low man". I tried defending myself I don't think what I did was wrong, and the more I think about it, I think I was unfortunate to be in that position in the first place. As soon as he said "call", the dealer should have done their job and spoke up. I waited it out hoping he'd still call before I said anything so that there wouldn't be any controversy, but since he tried to fold I had to say something. A little while later Phil said he was still 50/50 on whether I was wrong or right, but we became friendly again after that. --- hand history continued ---This stud 8 hand, I had opened with a Q showing, Phil called with a K showing ( I was 90% sure he had a K in the hole, from his mannerisms, and from watching him play. I actually knew what Phil had in almost every hand he played (and was kind of surprised he went so deep actually), and an A reraised, so we both called. I had Q4 in the hole by the way, and made 2 pair on 4th street. The A bet, I called (planning to raise 5th), and Phil called. Ace bet 5th, I raised and got Phil out, and the A called. He checked 6th, I bet he called. And we checked 7th down, he rivered his 2nd pair, to knock me down to 15k, otherwise I'd have been at like 50k with a real decent shot at going deep.I ended up busting in razz, getting my 15k in (with avg at 45k) 3 handed with a 6432 on 4th street. Guy made a 7 low on 5th, and I bricked out. I had a lot of fun playing this tourney with Phil on my left on day 2, and Cunningham on my left for half of day 1. I also only won 4 holdem hands all tourney!
