Alright. So I am what a lot would call a "weekend hacker" and don't golf a ton, but since going to the driving range a lot recently because I have nothing to do this summer, my basics have been improving a lot and i have gotten a handle on my wicked slice I used to have. I've been to my local course and tried out a set of Taylor made burners, which were amazing, but way out of my price range. I visited a Golfsmith store in Minneapolis when i was up there last and tried a set of these http://www.golfsmith.com/products/TM1150 I liked them a lot and they were pretty easy to hit, but i had to get going after them. Does anyone have any recomendations? Any other sets I should be looking at? I don't know my handicap, so there goes some info that could help but I don't usually hit that good of a round. I have a pretty fast swing, and I really am just looking to improve my game. Price range ideally would be like 3-500 for a set of irons. Also thoughts on a driver that's reasonably priced would be cool. Just looking to get a different point of view on things. Thanks guys!

I'd say you can't go wrong with a set of Ping G10's or Ping Rapture's. It might be out of your price range but you could probably find a used set on ebay. They are game improvement irons which mean they are more forgiving on mishits. I currently have a set of Titleist 755's. I'm not sure if you can spend 3-500 on a good set of clubs that include woods. I've never done it before but if you want to do it the right way, you should go get fitted for clubs. You can swing a few different ones to see what you like and they will match you up with the right clubs for your swing.

Use Ebay. Lots of golf stores post full new sets of clubs that are now an older model. You should be able to find DCI's or Mizuno MP's, or even good Taylor Made clubs for very cheap. You just have to accept buying their 2003 or 2005 model instead of the 2008 versions. fwiw, there will be little difference considering how much money you save....new clubs are new clubs.if you dont mind slightly used this set could be had for cheap.....http://cgi.ebay.com/Taylormade-Firesole-Ir...1QQcmdZViewItemOr.....you could get a totally new set for $299 (Taylor Made's 2005 model 3 iron-pitching wedge)http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-TAYLORMADE-R...1QQcmdZViewItem

Yeah that last set that you showed were the ones that I posted at a cheaper price. I want to possibly get them fitted, but I can always do that after I buy them I suppose and get new shafts and grips accordingly.EDITI don't mean 3-5 including woods, i meant just for the irons

Please don't use ebay. If you can afford to get fitted, go to a real store and buy a nice set. If you're a weekend hacker you might want a set of Callaway's. Easy to hit plus semi cheap.

http://www.diamondtour.com/http://www.diamondtour.com/golf_forum/if you aren't professional, some clones are a solid choice. this site lets you enter various measurements & get grips, shafts, etc all customized to you. i ordered a driver from them and have been very pleased. i, too, have a rather fast club-head speed & getting the stiffest shaft (zing!) cured a chronic slice problem i had with a more flexible graphite shaft.of course, some weekend duffers still think they have to go brand-name to play better.avoid e-bay for customized sets. a friend ordered a couple clubs & the heads fell off near the end of the first 9 he played. it was kind of amusing. *THWOK* <sound of club hitting ball>*fwipfwipfwip* <sound of club head sailing almost as far as the ball went>i did significant research of the company before i ordered. i also like that they run a forum, meaning they either fake a lot of user input or they believe in their stuff enough to let golfers discuss it.
