GWCGWC 83
It's been brought to my attention that the ending time for the auction isn't as clear as it could be. I have modified the OP to make the ending time more defined."The auction will end October 6th at 00:00 EST."Sorry for any confusion that this may have caused.
bdc30 0
-and accordingly, the pool will close at 00:00 EST on the 5th

Balloon guy 158
Besides, I plan on making this the longest hour ever for DN.First I am going to argue about hot cards, then my new game TournyCash Poker ( pat pending)Then I am going to argue politics. We're both Christians so I'll probably drop this. Then I'm going to ask him to stake me and say PLEASE at least 500 times.Yea, DN may be smart to outbid me! Balloon guy 158
Start bidding in odd amounts (like maybe increments of $50's) dammit -- it'll help the pool!!! lol Yea, From now on ALL bids should be in $50 increments. This way some of the losers people can feel like they have a shot for a minute or two before they realize they are now hoping for someone to flake out and the 2nd bid getting the nod.So $50 increments now boys, and girls/ladies/women. ( raised by a femanist; I just can't say girls)

Tiltinagain 973
I think you are taking too hard a line here. It should certainly be acceptable, for example, for me to make the donation directly to the 501c and overnight you the receipt as proof of that. I understand your concerns, therefore, if you are not the middle man, those issues go away.I think I can be trusted to be good for the money, and if I blow it, you can always default to the next bidder.I think we all appreciate your efforts in coming up with this initiative, but it seems inherently fair that the tax benefits for the donation should go to the individual making the donation.Sorry if it's been suggested before but why couldn't the winning bidder send in a Certified Check? These are guaranteed funds written by whatever bank it is purchased from. I use them a lot in my business for this very reason. It could be made out to the charity and the winning bidder could write off the contribution and there would be no worries about a personal check not clearing.Win, win, no?And BG, you're becoming more my hero by the day. Your wife may outwardly be "mad" about you bidding so much but on the inside I have no doubt she's proud of the great guy she married.

GWCGWC 83
After trying to find a solution to the issue of making sure the winning bidder gets the tax receipt, a person who has a lot of experience with promotions has recommended that a certified check made out to the House of Promise would be sufficiently secure. I hope this will allow anyone who may have had reservations about not getting a tax receipt the encouragement to place a winning bid.p.s. Here's what I know about write offs and tax law:
bdc30 0
That is HUGE news GWCGWC. Hopefully the bidding masses get wind of this -- their donation/bid can now be TAX DEDUCTIBLE!! Post that in the OP for sure. This could be the thing that puts this auction over the top --- I may have to extend the pool amounts above $5k --- gogogogogogo!
