serge 904
Kyle Dubas? Im confident this is the direction the club is going..Dubas is the guy imo
digitalmonkey 929
Kyle Dubas? I would think. I've heard this was the plan all along. Dubas to GM and Lou to some other position that involves coffee, advice and no restriction on facial hair.
Babying 613
Kyle Dubas? It looks like they are going that route. I am not sold on the guy but that is expected since there is no history on what he has done. Now if it was Chiarelli than we have a problem. He is living off that one Cup. His trades are god awful. digitalmonkey 929
I think he's a potential HR for the job. I'm assuming he's been learning quite a bit about the job the last 3 years. He's also more of a numbers guy and I think that will only help in player evaluation. He's likely to know how valuable guys like Gardiner and Zaitsev really are despite what Twitter says. I imagine he'll be less likely to make a bad trade and less likely to overvalue because of "name" factor. The Leafs could set a trend here. The players just need to perform to make the decision-makers look good

Dubas to GM and Lou to some other position that involves coffee, advice and no restriction on facial hair. And sticking with the plan is something Leafs fans should be very happy about. It's not something they've been able to do in the past (assuming there were previous plans at all lol) and it means things are on the right track.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
everything Dale said, I agree 100%. plan seems to be coming along perfectly, at least from this outsiders viewpoint
FCP Bob 1,320
so Kyle Dubas He probably should get frames that are a little smaller, the ones he has are too big for his face.
digitalmonkey 929
so Kyle Dubas He probably should get frames that are a little smaller, the ones he has are too big for his face. Analytics says they improve his vision 25% better than glasses that fit his face.
Dubey 1,035
Very happy with the Dubas signing. I think his glasses look good.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I dont think Lou+Hunter leaving is good for the Leafs, but Mirtle is reporting that if they do, they may/will hire Ron Francis as a senior consultant. Move over, I'm coming on board

Let’s get him on board.

Dubey 1,035
this article got me even more fired up for Dubas than I already was: https://theathletic.com/342641/2018/05/25/built-in-the-soo-the-kyle-dubas-story/ (Athletic paywall) I have never in my life been more confident in the current management team of one of my favourite teams.
serge 904
Very happy for Joe Bowen. He is the "salt of the earth" as I like to call him. He has been a great broadcaster, I have many memories of him growing up and listening and watching games. From "down goes Brown" to all the "Holy Mackinaws". Some of you guys dont like him, because he is a homer..But I love him for what he has done for me and Leafs nation. I have had the pleasure to meet him on several occasions and he has been approachable and just loves talking Leafs and hockey in general. Congrats Joe..Well deserved buddy.. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/article-leafs-broadcaster-joe-bowen-and-writer-larry-brooks-to-be-honoured-by/
serge 904
We won the cup!!! So that’s the MLS cup, Grey Cup and Calder Cup. Now we need the major sport teams to win.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
haha its funny how hockey works. A friend of mine who has Marlies season tix and I were talking last night, and to us, this is probably the weakest team thay have had in 3yrs. Others came close, but this team pushed through. Well done, happy for them, the Marlies do things right, great community team, and do good work with kids and the special needs community. Kind of cool to watch Dubas get so excited lifting the Cup. I think he's going to be easy to fall in love with....til things go sour, then everyone will turn on him. Then he will win a Cup, and nothing else will matter.
digitalmonkey 929
I meant to ask... Any solace being eliminated by the eventual Cup Champions?

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I get a kick out of the NHL sched being released. I plan out all these possible road trips.....and then do none of them. I gotta change some sh*t this year and make more happen.

serge 904
I wonder if the Leafs take a shot at Merkley if he is available. Or do we need another offensive dman who cant play defense..

serge 904
I've read many concerns about Merkley. I have as well...Its tempting though to take a player like that who has raw offensive talent..Even though needs to grow in several areas. Some team will take a chance on him..His stock has fallen however.
