Vegas Hotel Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hey all going to vegas in a bit. Looking to stay on the strip. So far the cheapest ive seen is Imperial Palace. Next cheapest is either flamingo or luxor. Finally i'm looking at either monte carlo or planet hollywood, but on my budget those are the least likely. Ive looked at all the others (mgm, venetian, paris, and frankly are too much. So i just need help choosing between the 5 i mentioned) I heard imperial palace is a total junkland so i am leaning toward flamingo or luxor. Anyone have any suggestions/ experience between the two? I will be with my kids so ive heard flamingo has an awesome pool. But i also heard its crowded and i hate crowds. Is it always that crowded? I'm leaning toward flamingo to be honest because its in the middle of the strip and luxor is not. But luxor is still an option. Someone play salesman and tell me which one i should choose. Please?

whats cheap to you? Im staying at the Sahara for about $40-50 a night but im sure you can get cheaper hotels in the bad parts of Vegas, just blow the Manager and im sure they will only charge you 20-30 if you are desperate, all the whores from the strip clubs do that......at least thats what they told me.

i actually looked at all of the sahara types, and cheap types but those are all off the strip. my kids will be with me so i want to be on the strip because i dont want them walking too far or having to take taxis or a bus. so sahara is a no go. cheap, but on the strip im looking for. anyone with any experience with the flamingo? or luxor?

Cheap and nice. Stay at the Westin about 1/4 off strip behind Bally's and Flamingo. Stay here for my longer trips when you need to get away from the dinging sound that gets really annoying after about 5 days.

I just stayed at Imperial Palace. It's a pretty shitty hotel but soooo cheap, you spend little time in the room anyways. I slept (barely) and showered. The great thing about it is this...it's ridiculously cheap and the location is excellent. Walk across the street to Caesars, Mirage, Venetian.edit: Flamingo is good location as well but I can't stand the smell of that place. They pump some really powerful artificial coconut type smell into it.

Flamingo's nice and in a good location. Don't stay at Luxor unless you plan to do a LOT of walking. Only thing really close to it is Mandalay Bay.

hey all thanks for all the help. except for the smell, flamingo seems to have good reviews so i may go with that. i looked at the IP but since im with my kids, the whole spending little time in the room thing may not be true for me. i wont be out at night partying and drinking it up because the fam will be with me. so i may be around the hotel more often than most. so i figure flamingo, because of its pool may be best bet. any more suggestions will only help me so keep em coming if you guys got em. thanks!

Bills Gamblin Hall has VERY nice rooms and was not that expensive imo. It used to be the Barbary Coast, and is the best location on the strip for the price.Have fun. I know I will! :club:

Flamingo or Imperial Palace. Everyone always talks about what a shitty hotel Imperial Palace is, I don't think it is that bad and the location is great. They also have lower limit table games and I know every time I go the girls want to play $5 blackjack or whatever. Flamingo is also a great location. Just a little nicer hotel for a little more. Don't stay at Luxor, too far down the strip.

And oh yeah, this is one of my favorite places because everyone can split up and you can always find each other because it is so small.

First good luck and have fun.Rooms at the Flamingo, serviceable, decent pool, Holiday Inn like rooms. You get what you pay for there.Planet Hollywood formerly the Alladin is very nice, just stayed there in March. Newly renovated very nice rooms, if the price is w/in $15 of any of the others you are talking about well worth it, you can pay less than $100 during week and less than $200 on weekend. It is also a Starwoods property resort so you can actually get hotel points. Was just at Mandaly Bay in early June, so had to make my way over to Luxor (being next door), don't know about the rooms, but casino was crappy and dingy, and poker room was not so good.Huskers20

Dude, i wouldn't stay at the Flamingo. The place smells like suntan lotion mixed with arse. If you want something in the middle of the strip, you're going to have to raise your budget. You said no buses or cabs but, the Luxor is not close to the "action" and would still require transportation. Stay at Paris or Ballys, great value mid strip.
