  1. Thank you! While I never thought of myself as Wilson in particular ... now that you mention it, I do see the resemblence.
  2. You're just want the world needs -- another woman with fast hands and a slow brain. Really, you make this too easy.
  3. You wish him "lick"? Based on your other posts, I don't think that was a typo.Eeeewwwwww
  4. I see you are a relative newbie. Had you been reading Daniel's blog and railing here for a few years, you would know that he has his best results in Tunica -- where he has battled a bad head cold and whined about the food and general conditions. It seems as if having to overcome hardships in Tunica lights a fire in him and helps him to perform at his best. Some people are like that. They do their best work when they are challenged with a bit of adversity. Maybe that is how Daniel is.I certainly want him to win -- and will be checking in on his progress as I usually do. But this recent bl
  5. Definitely true. At least keep your job until after the interviews. It's only a few more weeks. While it sounds noble to say that you are leaving because the people you work with depend on you to being doing your best, that's just an excuse. Suck it up and do your best for a couple more weeks. You'll be in a much better bargaining position if you don't appear desparate for a job.If you don't take this advice, at least prepare and practice how you will handle the topic at your interviews. Don't try to wing it.Good luck! I'm dying to quit my job -- but can't find another at the moment. So,
  6. Am I the only person who fears that Daniel is being too positive to do well in Tunica this year? It seems to me that the distractions about the conditions in Tunica (food, etc.) seemed to actually help Daniel play better. It's like the movie "Bull Durham" in which the Tim Robbins character became a better pitcher when he had the distraction of wearing the garter belt. It forced him to buckle down and focus on his pitching. I fear that the living/eating conditions in Tunica helped Daniel to focus on playing well by giving him a distraction for his mind to "push against."He just seems way to p
  7. I agree 100% ... and that's what I think is so sad.
  8. ... and I was never saying that "getting a good job and making good money" was NOT the main reason most people go to college. My original post said simply that I thought it was sad so many people that that it was the ONLY reason to go. I posted in response to the challenge to articulate some of the other reasons to go, not because I think that most people have those other reasons first and foremost in their minds.I never disagreed with Vick's contention that most people go to college for that reason.
  9. Ok. I will give you a few OTHER reasons to go to college. However ... please note the following points.1. I never said that EVERYONE should go to college. There are many other paths in life that one can take that are can lead to a happy, successful life. In fact, I think there are too many students in college who probably shouldn't be there. They go to college simply because they don't know what else to do and/or their families pressure them to go and/or they want to avoid taking on adult responsibilities and support themselves at age 18. So, plesase don't assume that I have certain belie
  10. Now THAT quote says a lot about what is wrong with society. It's sad that so many people actually believe that.
  11. I just bought a slightly used (14K miles) Saturn Ion. It's not the hottest thing going, but it looks practically new -- and for only $11,000, it was a good buy. I was originally planning to spend closer to $20K, but I'm glad I saved the money.
  12. So, I take it that you have only 1 account with them (not 2 separate accounts) and they are giving away 1 free upgrade per account? If that's the case, then there is probably nothing you can do about it. While it's not great customer service, it is not outside the normal way of doing business. When technological upgrades occur it is common for the consumer to have to bear some of the costs. That's been the historical reality. Let's face it: the consumer pays either way. Either there is a direct fee at the time -- or the company pays and collects from the consumer through higher rates lon
  13. My family is not real big on the present thing for adults. We exchange names at Thanksgiving and then just buy/receive one present with a $50 limit. That works well for everyone.
  14. The micro level LHE games on Stars are definitely very beatable -- so easy that even I make a profit. I make a few dollars in the micro level LHE games ... then I blow the money on a few sit-n-go's ... then I go back to the micro level LHE games and make a few more bucks ... then I get bored and try a few other games for variety ... then I go back to the micro LHE games to get a few more dollar to play with ...I think you get the picture.Basic priniciples of play (like those discussed in SSHE) will net you a profit.
  15. How many people will "call in sick" to rail the final table?
  16. Hmmmm... I thought a true Krablar was un-suited.But, hey, a win is a win.Railing is so much fun when Daniel is doing well. This could be a fun weekend.
  17. This is probably stupid, I know ... but my ego is healthy enough to ask a stupid question here. What happens if you just send them cash? You know, put a couple of 20's in an envelope with your account name and ask them to deposit it for you. Mail it to them and trust their employees to credit it to your account. It's not illegal to send cash in the mail ... and since I would only be sending a small amount, I wouldn't be worried about the security of the piece of mail.
  18. I'm no Oprah worshipper, but I do respect what she has accomplished and admire her efforts to "do the right thing" by using her power to make the world a better place. If I had that much power, I would also be very careful about with whom I shared it. I wouldn't be sharing my influence and media platform with people whose views I oppose. I also wouldn't be turning my show into one of those confrontational shows where people spout their opinions and stick with their constiuency's "party line" regardless of what anyone else says. Those shows do little, if anything, to further an understanding

    I Hate My Car

Gee ... if you had been around reading my thread from last week, you could have picked up the car I just traded in for only $1000. It's a 1998 green Ford Escort (4 door) with only 45K miles on it. For that money, you could afford to paint it to make it look like new.I bought a 2006 Saturn Ion with 14,000 miles on it for $11,000 on Saturday. It think it was the right decision for me -- but part of me does hate it a little. It's not that there is anything AND MONEY.
  20. I'm happy to read some good news about your mom. It sounds like she is recovering well from her surgery.Take care, llou

    Need Car Advice

Blue -- a bright, royal blue.... and I called back to the dealer this morning and told him I was going to cancel the extended warranty unles I got a better deal. $1900 is too much to pay for 3 more years beyond the 1 year warranty that comes with the car. I didn't feel comfortable with the "money guy" at the dealer at the time and now Randy tells me I called scr****. So, I will cancel it if they don't improve the deal. Thanks, Randy, for all the help!

    Need Car Advice

Well ... I bought a car today after work -- A 2006 Saturn Ion with 14,000 miles on it. With the extended warranty (about which I am having 2nd thoughts), the price was $13,600. They took my trade-in for $600, making the final bill $13,054.00.I'm not picking it up until Saturday. So, I figure I have a couple more days to reconsider that extended warranty. Thanks, everyone for your thoughts.llou

    Need Car Advice

I don't consider it setting back feminism ... I call it "being smart" and "being successful" and being confident enough with who I am to ask for help when it is to my advantage. That's why I wasn't too proud to ask for help from the people here at FCP. I've appreciated all the help the people have given me.I have a lot of strengths and reasons to be proud of myself, but buying a car isn't one of them. I appreciate any help I can get.As for the money I hope to save from the help I'm getting here ... I'm going to count that as "poker winnings." It's money in my pocket that wouldn't be there
