  2. I have had trouble picking spots to bluff in. This looks like a reasonable spot to rep a straight. Thoughts? 3. Here is an example- I slow down after the check raise and now and faced with a tough river decision. 4. So I guess this forum is completely dead now. Good to now
  5. So after a long break from playing online (black friday essentially) I have decided to try to play and to play more seriously than I did prior. I have mostly been a recreational player. I play 3 to 4 times a month live at my local casino, and have played the occasional small buy in tourny (up to $300 buyin). When I played online I never used a Hud, and stayed away from a lot of no limit online since I felt that I was at a disadvantage to players who used a HUD. Even today I still play more O8B than NL holdem when I play live, simply because the players at my local casino are so bad at omaha 8.
  6. Your story has to make sense. The person you bluffing has to believe you have a hand that can beat them. If you bet all the way on an Ace high flop, it would make the villian believe you have an ace. Details of the hands you attempted bluffs would help.
  7. I play a lot of the sit n gos' nl and plo. The games are soft. I play low since I dont want to have my money snatched again. Cash out is not too difficult
  8. I agree a lot with Isidoros points- just add my 2 cents 1. Acquiring Full tilt- This was done to convince US authorities that Pokerstars was a good actor whenever the market reopened in the US. You see the value know that Poker stars is back in new jesey. 2. Copying PartyGaming model I don't see why this bothers you? You certainly don't have to play, and they will make money off of the gambling. The more diverse revenue streams they have the better that is for you, since they will not be reliant on rake as the only source of revenue. 3. Protecting weak players This mindset is th
  9. Sounds like DN had a negative year last year. First one in quite a while, I believe.
  10. Simplify the math. On the flop count your outs and mutlply by 4. If you have 10 outs you have a 40% chance of hitting an out. After the turn mulyiplu by 2. 10 outs is now 20%. That is not exactly accurate but close enough when you are in the middle of a hand.
  11. Not looking good this year either http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article22398987.html
  12. Makes me wonder about "Quiet Lion" crazy luck on video poker machines a couple of years back http://www.spicejar.org/asiplease/archives/000595.html
  13. Read the book, My 2 cents is that she does not like Toby M because Toby decided that she was taking too much to run the game. He tried to get her to charge less, and when that did not work he organized the game without her. Since that was her entire income, she is naturally bitter. In my opinion, the book was too much about her and not enough about the poker. She isn't very likable and I found her a bit whiny.
  14. Definately interesting article, and a book I will want to read. I am having a hard time with accusing Tobey of doing anything wrong. He basically staked a couple of people in the game. He staked stars to attract big fish, and he staked his friend who was buried in the game. The deal he made with Curtis was pretty raw, but that is on Curtis.
  15. In calendar years 2012 and 2013, Oldford Group recorded revenues of $976 million and $1.1 billion, respectively, and adjusted EBITDA of $342 million and $420 million, respectively. How do you figure they are undervalued? If we assume that they were trending to make $490million this year (EBITDA) then it was sold for 10 times earnings. That seems like the right price to me. Put another way, the investment should earn them 10% return on investment, which is pretty reasonable considering the significant risk an online gambling site represents.
  16. It did not work for me- constant disconnects. I had to log off and the restart the whole program to reconnect. Finally pushed some marginal spots and busted. meh
  17. I found Sheets affadavit the most interesting. He describes staking and make up very clearly. The lawsuit itself seems to have been brought by an inexpierenced staker who did not really understand what she was doing.
  18. Anyone else having trouble with the site today? Keep getting disconnected Just read back on post- I have comcast. I will try the fix and see if it helps
  19. I agree with Bob The reason to play in a casino is for the security and integrity of the game. He paid a fee to the casino with the expectation that they would keep the game honest. When they failed to do so they can't just wash their hands of the mess. They owe the busted players a refund due to the fact they did not keep their end of the contract, But the casino should pay, not the players.
