Recently I've been pondering a question after following DN and DC's HU play. Clearly DN is getting the best of it in these HU matches and is ahead way more often than not. At what point, when playing someone heads up, is it acceptable to quit playing while ahead (ie. considered good etiquette)? Do you look at total time played, or average time ahead or something else? Any thoughts are appreciatedThx

Dunno how computer oriented you are but if you get a new (different) ip address the server will let you d/l other parts. Try going to start -> run -> cmd. Then ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew . If you have a router goto the admin screen and try releasing and renewing. Good luck, worked for me

In short look at the highes 2 cards in your hand. For example, if you held 8 7 6 5 3, you would say "i have an eight-seven". If another player then had 8 6 5 3 2, it would be classified as an eight-six and it would beat your hand. If your highest two cards are tied, proceed through your cards in descending order and whom ever has the lowest cards wins(ex 8 7 5 4 3 2 beats 8 7 6 4 3 2). It is important to note that straights and flushed do count.

Beating a low limit game is a decent way to get your bankroll started. In my experiences the blinds dictate general skill level. Playing .5 - 1.00 is a very different experience from playing a 3 - 6 table. The biggest pointer ive found, is that you need to gauge your opponets skill level and adjust to it(true of at any level of poker nonetheless). Like a well quoted pro said, poker is a bussiness. As such good record keeping is invaluable. I see there are a few items for purchase that help you to do this, but imo, it pays to understand the calculations behind the numbers, so i vote for using an excel spread sheet as it gives you the ability to manipulate your data in any way imagineable. Along the lines everyone else is thinking, i feel its important to think about the "fad" factor of poker, and how it may change over the years. Tons of players both skilled and unskilled alike are playing poker. My point is this, through time i think people who pick up on poker and play it because its on tv and its the new coolest thing will slowly steer away from the game and their busted bankrolls. Left will be the determined and knowledgeable player a d as a result major tournaments like the main event will be more of a skill game than a crap shoot.

After hearing much about Doyle Brunson's Super System, I had to give it a shot. All in all its a good book, but some of the games that are written about are not very popular anymore like draw and 5 card lowball. It's also missing a section on Omaha. I suppose that's why the Super System 2 is out tho. If anyone has read it (Super System 2), i'd be interested in hearing about it. Especially about Daniel's writings. P
