  1. Not to mention Hanukkah, where we spin the dreydel. As a people, Jews definitely do their fair share of gambling. If I ever run a casino, I think I'll open a Dreydel table.
  2. This statement asserts that anybody who undertakes an activity with the intent of making money is sinful. Since a large majority of adults have jobs, as they did in Biblical times as well, I find this theory laughably unpersuasive. This theory seems to be communist, not Biblical. We could get into a discussion of the societal benefits of leisure time, but the argument that hobbies and vacations are sinful isn't worth the time. This definition includes every sporting event, where one side's win necessitates another's loss. Or, presidential elections are bad, since Bush's win necessitated Ker
  3. Mushu-You're obviously extremely intelligent. It seems like a waste for Daniel to hire a person to be his assistant when you would probably do a much better job. Have you considered talking to him about this?
  4. I hate facing raises with nines. It puts you to a guessing time. What's he got over there,Two big cards or an overpair?I'm a coinflip or else way behind.
  5. It's like you made one comment that made you sound like an idiot, but you just weren't satisfied until you had shown yourself to be a total buffoon.
  6. You obviously didn't get my joke. You must be Polish.
  7. Hey wrto,Do you play like a Jew when picking your starting hands also? I believe that we tend to favor big cards and try to steer clear of suited connectors.
  8. We should all be honored to have James Joyce on our forum sharing his opinions with us.
  9. I don't think that the issue is whether Daniel is ethical. I don't know him personally, but I do know that I am ethical and I would have difficulty ignoring my side bet and playing to knock out Jennifer. Several articles have been written in CardPlayer Magazine recently about the ethics of owning percentages of other players in tournaments in which you are participating. This side bet of course has similar complications. To paraphrase Barry Schulman, even if the side bet does not lead to unethical play, just the appearance of impropriety is enough to justify avoiding the situation.I believ
  10. I noticed that the odds seemed a bit low for the number of players in the field. So, I converted each person's odds to a decimal (e.g. 80 to 1 = 1/81) and added them together. For the individuals, you get 1.016. Then of course you have the field, which is listed at an absurd 1 to 5, which would be 5/6 or 0.833. Add these together and you get 1.849. Obviously this number should be higher than 1.000, since there is a house edge, but this number is ridiculous.
  11. Raising before the flop, betting the 3-3-2 flop, raising Chan's turn bet after the 8 on the turn, and then calling Chan's all-in after the 9 on the river make sense if he had AA. However, if he had AA, he played the hand so straightforwardly that I don't believe that Daniel would not tell us that his hand was AA. My vote is for 22.
  12. My first and middle names are Mark and David. I mention this because I know of 2 other people in the world whose first and middle names are Mark and David. They are Mark David Chapman (who killed Lennon) and Mark David McGuire (who, like Bonds, Caminiti, and every other home run hitter over the past decade, was probably cheating his sport with his steroid use). I hope that I will be able to overcome the MD curse and be a much better member of society than those two.
