  1. I thought Kawakami looked good. I like 8 Ks over 6 IP.In other news, Glavine's shoulder was bothering him halfway through his rehab start in AAA and he's being replaced with Jo-Jo Reyes this weekend against the Pirates.

  3. Agreed. At the risk of being biased, I don't see any package being talked about better than the one Atlanta put together built around Yunel Escobar. Even if they decide it's ok to keep Peavy's contract on the books for now, then next year his salary jumps and any potential trade nets them even less due to the increased money and added year of wear on his arm. This is the best time to trade Peavy, and Towers is too intent on pulling off the big coup to make the best deal possible.
  4. Kevin Towers has been saying a lot of things. Too many things, I would guess. The guy told the press there was no chance Peavy went untraded this offseason, now he's saying that Peavy vould stay. He said he had discussions with teams Peavy didn't approve of before hand. He had a solid deal on the table from Atlanta, then went to the press every time someone mentioned Peavy in passing, hoping to jack the price up from Atlanta. Towers is currently talking himself into a deal that won't get near the return he could have had, when all he has to do is keep his mouth shut and let people present offe
  5. Sounds about right for Vaz, though I wouldn't be surprised to see the ERA a little lower. Also, it looks like an AJ Burnett is on the horizon. I would have much rather had Peavy obviously, but Wren can't control how big of a moron Kevin Towers is.
  6. The thing I miss most during the holiday season were the winter themed ICs. I always enjoy watching Sakai sweat his way through the strawberry dessert battle.
  7. Marcel was an annoying prick, but it didn't warrant that level of hostility. For all of Ilan's crap, though, Sam snapping in the kitchen supply store during Restaurant Wars was the worst. Calling Marcel out in front of a store full of strangers was incredibly douchey. Not as bad as serving up the watermelon with blue cheese and cream, though.
  8. You mean like the Twins giving up Santana for a deal centered around Phil Humber?I could see that happening here, if SD is really set on cutting payroll. I think Wren's initial offer should be somewhere along the lines of Kris Medlen, Cole Rohrbough, Charlie Morton, and either Schafer or Gorkys. To me, Hanson, Jason Heyward, and Yunel are untouchable. There's also Tyler Flowers, who looks good but is blocked by McCann.Or, if the plan is to acquire a corner OFer also, why not build a package around Francoeur, move KJ to RF, and give Prado a chance to play 2B?
  9. Anyone think Atlanta can put together a deal for Peavy without giving up too much (Hanson, Heyward, Escobar, etc)?

  11. Roll Tide to you sirs. Roll. Damn. Tide.
  12. Giada is cute and all, but something about that enormous hole she calls a mouth turns me off a little bit.The biggest negative against RR is he personality. I would have to smother her if forced to spend more than an hour with her.
  13. I wish I had known. Set my roster Saturday and didn't check scores until this morning. That cost me big.
  14. David Patten will/should be the #1 until Colston comes back.
  15. It hurts so much you wrote it twice, you masochist?
  16. I missed the draft at the last second with a last second baby related freak out. Sorry guys, it's gonna suck to lose to an autodrafted team.
  17. QFT. Skip was, by far, one of the best I've ever heard call a game for any sport at any level.
  18. With Liberty Media supposedly opening up the checkbook wider and the big salaries coming off the books from this year (Hampton, Tex, possibly Glavine and Smoltz), I would think that the Braves have already decided to make a run at a big starter via FA.
  19. The only way you can still be friends with a guy like this is if he has a kidney you need one day.
  20. Right, but with Tex such a big piece for a team making a run, then I would hope the Braves could have swung a better deal. At least Wren could have waited 24 hours for a better offer or made a counter with a little more substance then a downgrade at 1B and a prospect.
  21. I know they wouldn't break up that rotation, but I have to believe they could have gotten better than a AA reliever. If this was the best deal Wren could swing with 6 teams interested, then he blew it.
