Wow you know poker has gone mainstream when there's humorous tshirt sites devoted to it. And we didn't even need Paris Hilton. I'd like a plain black shirt that says "Suckout" on it. It would be my lucky casino shirt.

Haha, nothing like AC during spring break season. The jackasses sit 5 deep at every poker table. I'm watching fratrats sit down with thier trucker hats and aviater shades, pounding the felt and yelling "i'm feeling this hand baby" with 74o in the hole.I'll be the polite college kid taking all thier beer money.

Is it better than the Howard Lederer set I saw over at Costco the other day?

The hosts of poker shows are the most annoying people on Earth. B-list celebs and pros who know how far they've sunk. Except for Dave Foley. Kids in the Hall and Newsradio still rock my world.

Top pair means nothing if 1) you don't watch out for your kicker2) the board is coordinated in an aggressive multiway game.

The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen was some old lady who says she got the same hand about 3 times in a row and claimed the dealer isn't shuffling, which isn't even logical. Then she started making a scene and had the floor manager called down. Way to waste everyone's time.

How do you guys feel about the tons of senior citizens in casinos? I guess this might apply to Vegas and Indian casinos but AC is absolutely chock full of them, and the low limit hold em tables are no exception. For the most part they are all horrible and is a where a lot of my dead money comes from......but God they piss me off. Criticizing my play for ridiculous reasons, making smartass remarks about young people, making unreasonable demands from the dealers. I seriously always end up wanting to deck an 80 year old. You guys ever feel this way?

what are you looking for from poker?
Sushiman replied to Potomophobia's topic in General Poker Forum
Actually I'm not sure. Until I caught the poker bug I really looked down on all forms of gambling. This is probably because all the thugs at my old high school played C-low and I labeled gambling as for degenerates. I guess it used to be purely for fun. When I started we'd be playing for $5 buy in, sometimes less. But now more money is involved and I'm really in it to pay some weekly expenses. My $5 mess around game with my friends is tons of fun and filled with creative (aka sloppy and loose) play on my part. But otherwise, I know that if I feel like eating out next week I'd better not pla -

can i live on poker for a summer? advice please.
Sushiman replied to Sushiman's topic in General Poker Forum
Nah I'd definitely not play NL for my expenses. I would have considered it but my first casino NL experience just burnt me too hard. I posted it in the bad beats section if you want to check it out and critique my play. I plan on mainly 3-6 and 4-8. Maybe some 2-4 if I want some senior citizen who calls to the river with J high to tell me how I should play. <--- true story -
What does money transferring have to do with two ppl playing some heads up poker? Does one party not have the money to back his mouth?

Hi guys, wanted some advice from you all. I'm a college student and unforunately my summer internship just fell through (lab that was gonna rehire me didn't have funding ). So instead of shlubbing it at some retail/food joint I figured I'd take a shot at poker.I've got about 2500 and I've decided to use 500 of that as my initial BR. Now I'm not trying to make a real living. I don't have to pay rent or any major expenses so basically I'm just playing for food/going out money. I live relatively close to AC so i figure I'll probably hit the casinos 3 maybe 4 days a week. I'd be grinding every

This was my first casino NL experience. I'd gone a couple of times before but mostly to play 3-6 and 4-8. I was up about 150 after an afternoon of playing so I figured I'd give 1-2 NL a shot. 5 minutes after I sit down i get dealt AA in MP. I raise it 10 to go preflop, and to my delight a short stack pushes all in with his 30 dollars. To my surprise the BB calls his 30 dollars as do I. (should i have pushed all in for the rest of my stack here? About 120 dollars. I know my play was kinda passive but I wanted to see a safe flop first) Flop: 7 10 K rainbow. The BB leads out with a $40 bet.

Yea, every thursday at my college I pretty much play with a bunch of all-in maniacs. It's 10 dollar buy in and at some point I always make it to 100+ from tight aggressive play. Except I always only leave with around $50 due to all ins on the flop and the guy hits his straight/flush against my flopped set/two pair. My advice is to just play well and cash out while you're good and ahead.

I think the high profile poker community would love to know some tells on Toto. I know it's probably the ESPN editing but when I watch his performance in the US Poker Championships I felt that he had maybe 3 hands he actually deserved to win. The rest was just him coming over the top of everyone while significantly behind and catching his disguised 2-pair/trips/draw.

Play tight aggressive. Internet players tend to call with anything resembling a hand (and have also seen tons of people go all in with the same thing) so bluffing probably isn't a great idea. I've actually noticed something really interesting playing against novices. The ones that haven't seen poker on TV think the game is all about the big bluffs, and tend to call down huge bets with minimal hands. The ones that HAVE seen poker on tv thinks it's all about "making the big laydowns" and end up mucking top pair to pretty much any reraise. Btw, these are the guys who sit motionless at the 2-4 ta

Positively Fifth Street is the most unnecessarily longwinded book involving poker. The parts about the actual tournament are exciting and good, and a lot of the trivia he points out are interesting, but for the most part it's the author rambling on in some fantasy sequence where he imagines himself to be the same kind of hardliving badass as Ted Binion, Rick Tabish, William S. Burroughs....etc. The comparisons gets pretty ridiculous at times. If you're really interested in the Ted Binion murder trial that was going on at the same time as the WSOP, you can pick up this book. But don't read
