  1. I think that a tournament which is the biggest of the big (kind of like the wsop main event is supposed to be) which you have to qualify for or pay some huge entry fee (I think that $25K will be normal soon for the main events). We don't have to change the current wsop, but maybe make the tournament of champions a bigger deal....? It would be pretty cool to see a smaller field of bigger names that all the big names actually had a shot at winning. Then you'd have some dead money who paid the huge entry fee (maybe $50k) and some online qualifiers. If the buy in was $50k then the amount of onl

Poker is my favorite thing to do, because it is more individualistic than any other endeavor. People try to hold poker in the same esteem as golf, meaning they think of it as a game that should be steeped in sportsmanship and the players should conform to some ideal or have moral outlook on the game or life. This is not why I enjoy watching and playing poker. Poker is great, because people use whatever personal attributes they have to win. Whether it
  3. For me the hating on Moneymaker is not because he got lucky - it's because he comes off as a dumbass.Example: day 1 of the 2004 wsop ME, espn shows him signing autographs looking like crap and he says this great line - "I was up all night drinkin'". Now for someone who's supposed to represent the game, you'd think that he would at least have prepared for the main event by getting as much sleep as possible, in the very least you'd think he wouldn't get drunk the night prior - and even more donkish is the fact that he'd tell these people he's signing autographs for that he did it. It's things
  4. Like Raymer said, Kanter called pretty quickly for the rest of his chips with only a heart draw with 1 to go..... He couldn't think he had 2 over cards as well. It was a donkey play that should have ended his WSOP.However, if he did this to Joe Amateur would anyone care? Maybe if it was at the final table - but it happened to OUR Defending Champ who had a realistic shot at repeating. Everyone likes to see history made and records broken but this guy ruined OUR dream. Tough beat for Raymer, i was rooting for him like most of us - but any pro (except Mike M. and Phil H.) would just say "that

  6. River Rock is pretty good but like you said - it's all the way out in Richmond. Langley has a new Casino called Cascades that is pretty good - only 8 tables but the layout and atmosphere is great. They usually spread 2-4, 4-8 limit; 1-2, 3-6 NL; and 6-12, and any other game that has interest.I think Burnaby's casino is closed for expansion and there is a Great Canadian just over the Port Mann bridge in Coquitlam. I've heard the poker there isn't all that great though. My advice, Cascades - maybe I'll see you there.

I don't think anyone who plays the game well is looking for coin flip situations to put all their chips at risk. If you can get good equity AND not risk your tournament life, then yes, go ahead and race. But if you can avoid it, you'd rather go in as a bigger favorite than that. At the same time, sometimes you are forced to race due to a call that you didn't expect or the tournament blind structure dictates it - that is why it's called gambling a

But the JJ play had all the information available for his move. If I had raised a proportionate amount and he moved all in over the top, then I wouldn't fault his play with the Jacks. But if a situation ever called to fold JJ, I would think that was it.What I'm trying to see is not whether the AK or 99 made good or bad plays, but whether the majority of people make that call with JJ and why or why not.
  9. Dividedsky wrote: I don't think you should assume Queens or better with a "fast call", that's sometimes a false sign of strength designed to isolate and scare others out.I agree with this except that it was a call for all his chips - So there was no protecting or scaring out of the hand because he knew that his cards would be turned face up either way.If he had quick called my 3x's raise that I suggested I probably should have done, then I think your point is correct. But it was for all his chips - no thought went into it from my play to his play... Obviously he knew what he was going to do
  10. You missed the part where I said he doesn't know the math. So 2-1 on his money actually means nothing to him.... So if you remove that logic from the argument then what are his reasons to call?1. would be he has the best hand (this is true, but if he simply makes the lay down he is not risking his chips at what is probably a coin flip - ie. he is probably against AK, AQ, KQ or something like that which would make him only a 54% favourite - or possibly a higher pair ((just as likely to be an underpair as well...)) - is this a good reason to call off all your money when you can fold and wait f
  11. Last night I played a hand then argued with a guy for an hour about his play - looking for some other opinions:-It was 3 handed at the time blinds were at a very managable level for the chip counts - all 3 of us were pretty much even.1. Player 1 on the button raises (standard raise)2. Action comes to me in the small blind - i have 99 - with the BB behind me who will call standard raises to see flops with anything and the original raiser (in my thought process anyway) making a standard button raise - I go All In3. The BB immediately calls (now with a quick call like this and the amount i've pla

Don't post here anymore unless you have something of substance to post.It wasn't bad advice.... It was obviously good advice given in reverse. 15. Obviously my advice is the best advice for Heads up Hold'em - And I give it out only to students who will listen. I will obviously give the best poker advice to people then challenge them to play because I CAN NOT WIN AGAINST THEM. Actually, I bestow my knowledge to them because I ENJOY LOSING MONEY. When you guys have mastered heads up as I have - then you can offer advice. but until then I will continue helping others out by instructing them to play tight, then challenge them for money so that I can lose - because I ENJOY LOSING MONEY.
  16. That's terrible advice - heads up is all about PATIENCE!be patient and you will be successful.
  17. Limit???????? - play even tighter!
  18. I play a lot of heads up online so here are my tips in order of importance:1. Wait for premium hands - it is a tournament, so be patient don't panic when you're falling behind in the chip count.2. Fold to a preflop raise with anything less than Ace 9 or higher - don't make the common mistake of playing those Ace rag hands that so many people make3. If your opponent is raising everything preflop, fold until you have one of your big hands - then re-raise all in so he will know you have the big hand (this will scare said opponent)4. Suited hands are not good hands simply because they are suited (
  19. Why would Gus be playing on Poker Stars when he has Poker Champs which he endorses??
  20. If you're looking for quality play - then Full Tilt Poker is your best online site. If you want dead money - then Party Poker should be your choice. I've tried pretty much all of the major players for online poker and Full Tilt is the one that I decided to settle because the layout is great - the bonus is good - and I enjoy playing against a higher level of competition.Multi tabling is something that not everyone is comfortable with - I like to focus on my table and find that when I multi it is too distracting. Some guys are very good at it though and it is a great way to earn "points" as w
  21. Although Daniel has said in the past that he thinks Barry has a big ego (leading to speculation that he doesn't like Barry), I don't think that could be the reason why Daniel doesn't like him. After all, Daniel does hang out with guys like Josh Arieh and Erick Lindgren (neither of whom are known for their humility). It must be something more than just the ego thing.... Also, Daniel seems like the most patient guy in the world and it must take a lot for him not to like someone. The only people I've got wind of him not really liking are Antonio E. and Barry (although apparently he's cool wit
  22. Seriously - almost any other night I would play in this! Wednesday is the worst night for me all week. Setup a monday or tuesday event!
  23. In my first live casino experience I entered a $25 with Re-buys and add on tournament.I beat out all 164 players to finish 1st for $3500.Couple weeks ago I finished 5th, then 4th in the little $25 tournaments (75 players) at the Luxor. $70 - $75 respectively.
  24. You should do this more often! I'd play them all the time. I've been reading the forum for awhile now, but just registered. Let me know if you get any other tourny's going on full tilt - I have plans for tonight so won't be able to make it.
