  1. This is a beautiful flop, push it in. I don't see any use in looking at the turn card before making a big move here. Or at least put in a raise, I think it wouldn't be totally unreasonable to just make it 1200 or so instead of pushing.
  2. The line between manliness and stupidity is very thin... ;-)
  3. I think a lower set, as well as 99 and TT, and Adxd are strong possibilities here, maybe AA (but that more of a long shot) - all these hands are consistent with his play in a 4.40, preflop and postflop. I'd be surprised if villain has two pair or a straight (unless it's a wheel) - open limping from MP with suited connectors isn't nearly as common as with the other hands I mentioned.Difficult spot on the river, it sure looks like a flush and essentially you only beat a bluff...
  4. Damn, what a sickening way to bust...Congratulations to the finish and cash!
  5. I can tell you from experience - having watched hundreds of mediocre at best football games, that it isn't any less intense at a level that is far from world class (at least if you care about one of the clubs on the pitch). ;-)
  6. Try to make him understand BR-management and that he doesn't know anything about poker. And yes, you are kind of responsible if he loses a lot of money. What made you think it's a good idea to tell an idiot like that to play for real money?
  7. You can fold, but it is bad etiquette.
  8. I don't understand your argument for PL, but you should play the game you feel more comfortable/better at I guess.
  9. :lol:I sometimes watch car racing, but NASCAR must be the dullest racing series ever invented... It is really ridiculously boring, I can't imagine anybody watching that without being completely drunk....And btw. the name of the game is football!
  10. A marathon tournament - could be an interesting addition for Pokerstars.
  11. sry for the hijack, but best signature ever - these stupid baby pictures are always disturbing to me (thanks the gods for the option to turn off pictures).
  12. ok, first hand: fold preflop. (fullstop, nothing more to say really, don't even limp with such a hand from early position) And the push on the flop is highly risky as well.second hand: bet flop (somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 the pot) - you don't want to give a free card to three opponents with just one pair, raise turn (possibly all-in depending on the stack sizes)third hand: raise less preflop (3xBB usually is the standard when opening the betting), flop is debatable but not too bad. You aren't even that big of a favourite here though.
  13. Ok, a serious reply: I understand your frustration and I sympathise, I've been getting beaten up terribly in tournaments too lately. But you played both of these hands really badly - it would be good for you to reflect on your game instead of just pitying yourself... Running bad and playing bad usually go together.
  14. 1) for value, JJ is a very good hand and likely the best at the table in this situation2) there is a limper in front of you, and you don't want to give the players behind you correct (or close to correct) odds to draw out on you3) JJ is a tricky hand to play postflop in a multiway pot, even in position - unless you hit an excellent flop like you did here. It makes your decisions easier when there aren't 4 other players in the pot.4) you are close to getting short stacked anyway, so you should make a move sometime soon5) maybe there's more?raising to 150 isn't terrible, but it isn't optimal eit
  15. You have to play higher stakes tournaments. The donks in $10 tourneys just don't respect your raises.
  16. 400/800 or especially 1K/2K is very high stakes even for stinking rich people. HSP was 300/600 NLHE, and for some of the pros there that was the highest they'd ever played until then...
  17. And UTG? And what about UTG+2?If this is 20/40 it is one of the most perplexing hand histories I've ever seen, and obviously the thinking in this hand must be beyond my understanding of the game at the moment as a lower-limit player - because I don't even remember similarly donktastic plays from my $0.05/0.1 LHE days. Why did you keep raising in this hand, how could you believe your set of sevens to be the best hand on the river when almost all the draws had hit?
  18. Maybe if you explain your thinking it would be easier to say something about the hand. What limit is this? It says sb post blind of 10, this surely cannot be 20/40 LHE, right? If it is, I gotta get an account on UB ASAP...With that kind of action I'd expect to see nut flush over a set of kings over set of 7s over AA or so at least...Honestly: wtf?!
  19. That makes sense, thank you, I hadn't thought of it that way.
  20. hand1: cap flop, raise turn. You are realistically only behind AA, and you beat lots of other possible holdings - JJ, QQ, maybe AQ, AK if villains postflop aggression matches his PFR... By calling down here you lose value imo. If he has you beat - good for him...hand2: alright, nothing you can do about it. I'd put villain on JJ+ here. But he's short stacked, and I've seen people make desperate plays to get rid of the rest of their money in such a spot, his hand could be a lot worse than that.
  21. I see, so you think I'm ahead more often than not here, and that villain will probably only bet the river if he has me beat, right?
  22. Interestingly BB had AdKh, which I really didn't put him on. A set wouldn't have been inconsistent with the play I see at 1/2 though, many players wait for the turn to put in bets with strong hands.@zach: What's the purpose of capping the turn if you back down to aggression on the river? Chances are the river won't decide the winner of this hand either way and he already told me that he likes his hand.
