  1. Thanks, glad you like it! I'm the guy who repeatedly drove Scout off the road...A small addition to my list:-have flopped a royal flush in holdem, twice (had ATc each time)
  2. funny thread... And I thought my life had been somewhat interesting until seeing some of you guy's responses!I have a few things I can brag about though:- seen almost 100 tornadoes- purposefully driven into a hurricane- gotten my picture on the PokerStars Client (weeeeeee, currently very excited about this!)- camped out in a blizzard, on purpose- am a minor character on a cable television show (Storm Chasers, Discovery Channel)- was an eyewitness and first on the scene to a gruesome car/bike accident; fortunately the biker survived despite some serious injuries- have been banned from blackjack
  3. You should definitely do one of Reed's tours... I'm good friends with Reed and the rest of the TVN guys and I'm sure you would have tons of fun. As far as finding the optimum week, it really is a crapshoot. If it were me I'd probably pick somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd week of May. That's still near the peak of tornado season, but it's not too early so you are slightly more likely to have chases a little further west in excellent chase country like western Kansas or similar longitudes... plus you are slightly more likely to have slower moving/more photogenic storms then also. But really i
  4. lol, yeah... we really were pissed at the DOW that day. And scout does get blown off the road next week, but it was no big deal... A very strong wind gust hit us and it felt like I was about to lose control, so instead of trying to counter-steer too hard I just kinda slowed down and let the wind push us off the road since there was no real ditch or any hazards. I'm sure they will try and make it look like a big deal on TV though... oh well. Next week's episode should be very good; I am excited to see it.
  5. cool tornado! I know exactly what you mean when you say you can still picture the experience clearly in your mind... every one I've seen is like that. Tornadoes definitely have a way of burning their image to your memory.good ol' Ness City... I've driven up and down 283 through Ness City countless times; We spent tons of time in that area this year as western KS ended up being the hotspot for a good period of time. I know what you mean about the scenery blurring together, but that simplicity makes me love it though. Western KS is one of my favorite areas to chase - you can see forever in
  6. yeah, it can be pretty rough sometimes... you can go thousands of miles, and days, even weeks, without seeing much at all, which can be very tiring/disheartening. A lot of that is really lost in the series since they don't show the bust days at all, and just kinda jump from big day to big day... that's totally understandable since they are trying to keep the show entertaining, but 99% of chasing is a big time grind and lots of boredom. That other 1% makes it all worth it though.where in kansas was the tornado you saw when you were 8? was it a big one? did it hit anything?
  7. cool, I am on this show; I'm the driver for the Scout vehicle. :-) Anyways, was just browsing the forums and was surprised/happy to see the show mentioned. The last two episodes should be entertaining I think... the final one especially as it should contain some incredible storm/tornado video.storm chasing is a lot like poker by the way... it's all about making good decisions and continuously reevaluating as the situation/variables change to try and give yourself the best possible odds for success. That's really all you can do, just like poker... Anyways, I'm rambling now; glad you like the
  8. Nice! Please ship to AJinOK (Norman)Thanks for putting this together!!!
  9. Good idea... I think I'm gonna buy a kitten and...Run it over! That should help end this tilt.joking of course. :-) Maybe I should finally buy that hot tub I always wanted... Good idea.
  10. I would like the mighty... 2 of diamonds!AJinOK on Pokerstars, shipping now. Thanks!
  11. I never tell bad beat stories, but winning the sunday million would've really launched my career... will never forget this one.Final 26 of the Sunday Million... Winner is chipleader... Havent worked out the math, but a 30-40k loss in equity on a 98% favorite sounds about right. Maybe more than that since i would be the big stack with a fearless image and should be able to use that effectively... villain went on to win the 180k, which makes it hurt even more.PokerStars Game #21529564420: Tournament #113896170, $200+$15 Hold'em No Limit - Level XXX (65000/130000) - 2008/10/27 1:28:21 ETTable '1
  12. It's ok and correct to play a little safe on the bubble, but it's not ok at all to play scared. You absolutely have to reraise preflop here with QQ. I'd probably reraise to 1500 or so and then push any flop.As played it's a lot more tricky... You have an overpair to the board and I don't think you can fold, but at the same time there's a good chance he's doing this with some sort of hand that's around 50/50 with you on the flop. This really looks like AhXx, or maybe AhJx, or KhQx, KhJx, etc etc. All these hands were behind pf and probably would've folded to a rr, but now it's race time.I a
  13. just read threw the responses and I completely disagree that you have no fold equity here. There is definitely a chance that he could fold - maybe small but definitely a chance... at least 10% I think, probably more. Sure it looks like two pair or better, but he could easily be doing this with a weakish ace b/c he's scared of the possible draws out there. With a weakish ace he could (and should), fold to a reraise imo. Obviously overbetting the pot on this flop with a weak ace is awful, but there are tons of bad players out there...And there is definitely a non-neglible chance he could hav
  14. Spots like this really suck... I hate it when I flop a huge draw and someone overbets the pot and probably has something they are willing to go with. Still, I'm usually in favor of taking the most aggressive line in mtts to try and build a big stack and go really deep. Calling is obviously very bad here, but I think you have enough fold equity to make the shove. To be honest I think he probably has two pair here, or maybe a strong ace he's willing to go with; but you really aren't in horrible shape against those hands. Without really crunching the numbers I think even if he only folds 10-2
  15. I like pf and the bet on the flop by hero, but don't like the rr to 1700... My standard line is probably just to shove all my chips in trying to get him to lay down a weakish ace, or of course get lucky if he calls. If I give him credit for a good ace, or a made hand he is willing to go with then obviously just calling the raise on the flop is the right move... but this also lets you get outplayed if he's willing to fire a big bluff on the turn with air or a worse fd and you have to fold, which would be a horrible scenario for you; so I think 3-bet shoving is the correct hu play here in gener
  16. yeah, blue baboon - i remember playing with you for a bit before i busted. That was a crazy tourney for me - won a 4-way huge all-in pot with AA vs KK,QQ,JJ to become a massive chipleader with 300 left or so, but then lost 4 races/bad beats in a row and it was pretty much game over... that sucks about the KK.
  17. Wow, I think this is a really close one... The best mtt players are the ones who are not afraid to bubble and play for the win. That said, most players are afraid of bubbling, and will avoid bigger stacks without good cards. With that line of reasoning, I think the key to this hand is the BB's stack. He has more chips than the button, so the button's raise in this spot carries more strength than usual in my mind. Without any real reads on the button, that makes this hand a fold imo... I think I shove AJ+ (maybe A10+), and most pairs, but I don't know, that range might be too nitty. I thin
  18. You definitely have to call here... Villain was in the BB and could easily have a worse two pair, and not a set. Plus this is micro-stakes, so he could be making a bad play with top pair, some kind of draw, or worse. Your hand is way too good to fold... play for the win and call for sure! If he has you beat, it's a cooler - it happens.
  19. In the money already and down to the final 24... I've been pretty active recently making lots of small raises to steal blinds and chip up since I'm pretty short (M~7 and 20/24). A quick look at OPR reveals that BB is a losing player, so I don't think he's capable of doing anything too tricky (like c/r'ing the flop with air or just calling pf with a big pair). I did however think he was capable of overplaying some sort of mid pair, or perhaps making a play with a flush draw. Obviously I am worried about a set or a Q. Folding pretty much puts me in last place chip-wise and blinds are about t
  20. I will probably be playing this... Anyone know the answer to these questions?Do you have to register in person? (Is there a way to do it by phone, or online?)Can you choose your starting day?How close is it to getting capped? If nobody knows then I'll just call and get these answers, but saw this thread and thought I should respond.cheers, and good luck to anyone else playing.
  21. I agree with folding pf... The only way I might play it like you is if UTG has been playing very aggressively, even from early positions. If that's the case then I probably just push preflop though, and not call.Once you just call pf, its a tough decision on the flop. You've already invested a decent amount of chips and villain's overbet is a little fishy - he might be bluffing. I definitely wouldn't put him on AA, KK or a set; I think he'd usually bet out smaller with those. With that reasoning I think it's close, and can see your call... Good chance he flips over JJ or TT and you're almo
  22. like pf and the flop...bet a little more on the turn; you have to really protect on this draw-heavy board, or at least charge him substantially to chase. I'd bet just about the size of the pot on the turn... and call the river... if he has you beat that's a big time cooler; you have to call the river for sure.
  23. I agree with all this... Your aggression with the AQ, T4 worked, but success in low limit turbo SNGs is all about surviving until the end and pushing/calling correctly when the shoving begins. Winning a small pot early on really isn't very important at all... For the most part just play your monsters strong and try to get paid off early in a SNG, and don't get too tricky. All that said, none of your plays were bad and it's ok to be creative now and then early in a SNG, if you are really confident in your read; just be careful you aren't doing it too much though. The only thing I really questio
