impossible to beat my casino?

Recommended Posts

Have just spent one longgggggg session at the local casino (star city in sydney, australia). WOuld have come out in front if it wasnt for the rake! Lets see what everyone thinksLimit hold em, $5/10. No % rake is taken, but, in order to receive a hand, all players (regardless of position) pay a 'commission chip' worth 75c to the casino (ie, like an ante, but it does not go into the pot, it goes straight to the house)Therefore, over a hundred hands, each player pays the casino $75! In order to break even, one would have to average winning 7.5 BB per 100hands! Is this possible? The other limit is $10/20. Again, no rake is taken, but the commisison chip to get dealt is $1. THerefore, over a hundred hands, cost of playing is $100, or 5 big bets. THus, one would have to win 5BB per 100 hands, just to break even. How does this compare to your B and M around the world? Is it time (after one visit), to never play there again? All thoughts much appreciated.Paul

PLaying solid, you'll beat the game for atleast 15bb/100 if not more. So, You're basically splitting your profits with the casino. If its a really good game and good atmosphere, then I guess its worth it.But yeah, that pretty much sucks.

I play 1-2 NL and it is a max buy-in of $100. Every 30 minutes each person must post $5 to the house as a seating fee (higher stakes are even more...up to $7.50 every half hour). I usually play in 6-8 hour shifts, so I am forking over $80 every time.Online is always a lot less of a rake becuase you are not paying dealers, waitresses, etc. There are also a lot more tables online so less of a rake can be taken per table. At a normal live 2-4 limit game there is up to $8 taken out depending on the pot size (and those are some small pots).I agree that posting a "house ante" every hand is a bit ridiculous, but the rake isn't that far off of everywhere else. It also creates some action, because if people are posting .75 every hand, they are more likely to play more hands.

same as where i play (casino niagara). its balls, i hate it. at least in a regularly raked limit game your only paying if your winning. $5 session fees every 1/2 hour can be a real kick in the nuts if your running bad.

$8 bucks at a normal 2-4 game? Where are you plaiyng at, even in Casinos with a jackpot the most I've seen is $4.

Only fishes would sit down in this casino. Which could mean you have a shot at breaking even earning 7.5bb/100 hands. However, this is still a stretch unless they let u play 2 tables at once just like online :club:.
