  1. You guys are missing a major point here. This clock is only used in the PPT not in the WPT. The PPT is a freeroll. They are putting up 100% of the prize money, so if they want the players to sing nursery rhymes while betting and where baby bonnets then the players have two choices. Play the way the PPT wants them to for the free money...or dont play at all.Easy there Thumpy... The reply here is dead on... The last idea is certainly Barnum and Bailey inspired...There was a clock at the 'Battle of Champions', which was also a freeroll for 1st season champions. The WPT has not installed a cl
  2. I hope youre right!and yes, it degenerated, but they shook hands later, so no harm no foul
  3. props right back at ya gadjet for the typical 'accuser' to recognize a turn-around...<sniff> < tear>this is beautiful... ok... really back 2 work now
  4. Right on, it appears that we are all about on the same page...I completely understand topic frustration, so apparantly that did creep into your post... all good. That other longer post after mine was well stated as well, and sadly might be true as far as the PPT eventually not making the cut. I'll save those predictions until the first one airs, because the show is being produced very, very well... that can help.Nice chattin'back to work...
  5. the assumed goal of this post.... If you had simply posited a question like, "Thoughts?" or "Any opinions?", it wouldve been more likely to have prompted insightful responses that perhaps you were hoping for, as opposed to triggering the tragically and (I'm sad to say) oftentimes humorous sarcastic replies. On to the topic, there are a few points in there, but they appear to stumble upon each other. Yes, the WPT and WSOP would certainly be guilty of 'elitism' in the precise context that you mentioned if they were to deny certain entries... ok.... that is not, nor has ever been stated
  6. If you actually care about moment by moment analysis, the only two worthy of it are Mike and Vince. Say what you want to about Vince's phrases, but he knows his poker. Mike is the consumate professional, and those two take every episode very sriously.Phil has some good things to say, but it's kind of like watching Derek Jeter doing analysis of a celebrity softball game. Good stuff, but nothing to work with. While Norm is thinking of his next punch-line, his mouth is miscalling outs (thats actually the producers fault as well, as they record the commentary later in the studio). Lon and Norm r
  7. Sorry to say BigSlick but I believe that episode was from season 1. I know I have seen it a few times.Just for the record, that was Season 2. Season 3 is gonna killllllllll
  8. Last year it was the WPT Battle of Champions... no new air for the WPT this year. If there is a poker show, its something different.
  9. Do you mean Battle of Champs? Sadly, no. But they are close to selling the PPT, which can only lead to a SOLID final table.
  10. I can't believe I wasted a valuable few minutes of my life reading this. Stop now, if you are like me...
  11. They were both the consumate professionals while filming 'Poker Corner'. That says enough for me for both of 'em.
  12. Van Patten kills at his home games... He's been playing in serious cash games for 30... yep, 30 years.
  13. Also, my girlfriend thinks that Chad is funny, which is another sign that he is not. That is fricken hilarious. what would happen if Norman Chad lost his index cards with all the jokes on 'em? He might actually have to talk about the hand being played...
  14. Sweeeeet. The rails were pretty crowded. Anyone smoking there would be a jackass for that alone. Yeah Daniels a real d..k for trying to eliminate distractions with a paltry 1.8 million on the line. Only d..ks think that good people are d..ks.
  15. There can be ALOT to it if you are looking to do it right. First off, make sure you have all the supplies you need. Adequate (comfortable) seating, proper lighting, big enough table, getting some sort of felt usually helps, or throw down for an actual Hold'Em table.Secondly, know who you are playing with, and decide on what types of games you want to play, and at what stakes. (If half your friends are watching every quid, don't set the stakes too high). Ask what kind of games people prefer, and pick the ones you dig the most. Make sure house rules are established. You make the final dec
