Haven't seen more than 20 seconds of the Habs game, but let's roll with Galchenyuk and Holden.

If Matt Calvert escapes this with no suspension, the NHL is an absolute joke.

-NHL floats idea of non-suspension through mainstream media talking head (Lebrun)

-Widespread outrage ensues

-NHL announces there will, after all, be a hearing for Calvert

Really something, eh?

I feel like they'll find a way to talk it back because I don't know if it's clear that the cross check hits the head or neck. May be the shoulder.

I also expect that they'll completely ignore the headshot immediately following this when Kuhn was bent over in pain.

The DOPS is run by a bunch of dinosaur former NHLers. How do they expect the game to grow when it's run by backwards facing people?

the difference between the cross check being neck or shoulder is 8 vs. 3 games in my opinion. Still a suspension either way.

They certainly can't claim it was a "hockey play" either. Nowhere near the puck. Final minute. Game over.

It was predatory bullshit. Frankly, I'm shocked it was Kuhnhackl who was the victim, and not like Kessel or Sid or Schultz or someone of consequence.

This Leafs/caps game is a ref show of the worst kind.

There's been like 12 penalties and 3 PPG, and there should have been 2 penalties called in total IMO (Kadri cross check and Ovechkin Dive).

And the Caps players are throwing up their hands and moaning to the ref every time somebody comes near them.

A penalty filled game does not make for good hockey.

You'll *never* guess who the ref is.

So, 1 game. The replay shows pretty clearly it was a crosscheck to the arm, not the neck or head.

But, as predicted, the headshot that followed was completely ignored. They even pointed out that "checking" him after was bad, but didn't bother acknowledging that it was direct contact with the head.
