Who Gets The Money?

Recommended Posts

I was just eating lunch (Swiss Chalet), and realizing that all I ever eat is junk food. I mean I probably eat worse than Redpill, and that's saying a lot. So what if I either a) had a heart attack or B) got in some kind of accident and died, would pokerstars and full tilt just keep my money after my account was inactive for so long? Or if a member of my family called them up, would they get the money to them? Just curious.

probably gets confiscated, but im guessing that if your family members got in touch with them theyd send them a check in your name, which theyd be able to cash since your life would be busto

You lost me at Swiss Chalet. I love that place!! Chicken & Rib Combo.I'm sure it would go to your estate, provided they gave documents proving that you were indeed dead.

That's a good idea, I think I'll do that, and recommend everyone else do the same.

The site doesn't know if you are dead, alive, or your old Aunt Bertha, they just know from passwords. So, you leave detailed instructions for whomever you want to get the cash. They request the money, if they have the correct info, the site sends it. Any check can just be endorsed by them over to themselves. No one is going to object because the only one who could object is dead.

Someone in your family would have to send stars and full tilt a copy of a death certificate and whoever has power of attorney for you could claim the funds that way. Make sure you let your family know that you may have funds on those sites.

the following is in no way legal advice and should be considered the ramblings of a sh*t head.i have thought about this many times. i work for a law firm (in california, don't know other states) where we do estate planning and always wondered the implications if a player died. if you had over $100,000 in your poker account and didn't have a living trust it would probably have to go through probate (1 yr. minimum, 40% taxes, and $12,000 in legal fees). if you didn't have a living trust and had less than $100,000, you could probably get whoever your heirs are to fill out a declaration that you have passed and that the account shall now be considered theirs. or maybe you could get a court to declare someone the executor and that person would probably be entitled to access the account and distribute the funds.if you had a living trust, you may be able to have the account as "your name, Trustee or any successor Trustee," in which case the successor Trustee of your trust should be entitled to access the account.of course you could just give the password to someone who could probably get a check. w/o neteller, i would think it would be much harder, but a court appointed executor could probably deposit the check into your bank account.AGAIN NOT LEGAL ADVICE, just some ramblings.moral: get a living trust done.

I'm not an expert on this topic, but I know a person by the name of Howard K Stern who is asking the very same question at this time. He is the lawyer for Anna Nicole Smith. You can email him at Hstern@associateexpress.com if you need further clarification or help. When you speak to him tell him I gave him a SHOUT OUT!And by the way you still owe me $1000.
