  1. Sorry, but you should be able to admit Wang makes a couple of good points, and brightens up my day with some humour. "Discussing this hand with the results in mind is mental masturbation; no, it's worse. It's like mental dry-humping."That being said, I would also just call the 3 bet on the flop hoping to have him lead the turn. Knowing he has AJ can influence your responses on this point. Knowing he has AJ the correct play would probably be to cap as there would still be a good chance he would lead the turn. Also, you could safely assume he will at least call your bets all the way to the r
  2. I dump here. I think CO calling 2 cold with you still left to act seals the deal. If he is not on a flush draw, he has a very solid hand. Even if no one has a 10 you could see QQ-AA raise here & the 77 set (possibly even 33 would raise preflop at this level) would raise now.
  3. I also think you need to push pre-flop. It wouldn't matter in this situation, you may be called by 1010 & lose anyway, but with 9X the BB I think you just push & pray. Even if you only win $300 in blinds, that is 15% more for your stack.
  4. Yeah, what he said. Actually i remember having one before this ridiculous 200BB downswing I can't seem to get out of. I used to think "how can someone lose that much?" Now I know. Luck is one cruel mistress and tilt doesn't seem to help.
  5. "The reason we sometimes c/c instead of b/f, is that he will often bet with more hands that we beat than he will call with. I'm not sure that this is the right situation, but that's the principal."I understand that concept, IMO this is not the right situation. I do that when I have led whole time, but have TP/WK or something like that. "I dont want this checking through. I'd rather Bet/Call then Check/call. IMO."That's what I'm thinking, expecially after the way the turn played out. I think if someone has the 4 or hit a K you may be raised right there. I think there is value here on the ri
  6. FYI Actuary - 2/4 full ring last night, folded around to SB who raised, I call with 108. from the BB. Flop is 8 high. We cap the flop, he still leads into me on the turn where I now also have a gutshot, so I just call to showdown. He had KK! I'm sure he thought "What an idiot!" I know I did! Cost me $24!Doh!
  7. Once you decided to go with it, I like the flop raise to see where you are at representing the Q or better. The raise told you and you have a decision right there. You either believe him or you don't. If you do, fold. If not, you have to commit to call all the way down. Again problem with this hand is you have to hit at least 2 pair or a big draw to really continue. There are so many hands that are ahead of you even when you hit your 5 that it is often not worth the $ you are risking compared to the size of the pot to continue.
  8. I'm confused with the people wanting to check the river, why? If we lead into a 2 spade board with a pair & an overcard K, why would we not bet when the river brings what should be a brick to our opponent unless he has 1010? I can see more reasons for checking the turn than the river. Am I missing something?I bet this river for value all day long. If I get raised I call 100% of the time. The pot odds on the call are too great, we will be good here much of the time, and if nothing else, I want to know how this guy played the hand for info. Did he have the 4, did he hit his K, was he p
  9. Actuary, I would ask you this first, would you defend if the 53 was not suited? If no, then you should throw this hand away. I used to call all the time with hands like this as well as us SLAP's like this crap. Suited cards make hands like this look WAY better than they are to the semi-loose. It is still 5 high. This hand plays way better multiway where the long shot str8 or flush will win a lot of bets from high pairs. You are HU so even if you hit a monster with this you aren't going to make that much $. More likely you are just going to get yourself in trouble. I have had to fill a lo
  10. Tough to say what happened when the new software came in. Right then I just switched to 2/4 6 max. Started out killing the game but ... then went on a 160+ BB downswing in only 3 sessions!!! Obviously some bad play came in to effect here from the ensuing tilt, but for the most part it was overcards calling down & hitting or middle / bottom pair catching up on turn/river. Also big PP just got outdrawn right away. I heard the "variance" here is much higher, but wow, my largest downswing before was only 60BB.I went to full ring to get my bearings back & it actually does seem a little
  11. In a multi-way pot on the button with J10o I like this call (of course I'm semi-loose). On the flop we have top pair on the button facing one bet & only 1 call - I like a raise here for a couple reasons. First of all, we could actually be ahead here. However more importantly I want to try to take control of the hand and see where we are at. I like to use a flop raise when the bets are small to get a free turn or free river showdown with a mediocre hand. In this case if not re-raised on the flop & checked to on the turn I would bet again if no scare card comes. With a scare card y
  12. Bet this flop for value. You have to show down some solid hands after you make what looks like a continuation bet, if you don't your other con't bets won't get anyone to fold in the future. You're playing 2/4 bet for value & let people call with worse hands. Kx will pay this off all day long here and AQ will probably call too. Giving free cards with TP/TK can prove dangerous.
  13. This is easy - Gus! He naturally plays like most of us do when we are drunk. Therefore he has the obvious advantage.
  14. First of all, I think we missed a bet here. I am happy with TP with a flush draw on the turn so I am making a turn bet. When the river d falls, what were we hoping for here? I'm hoping for a diamond, so I'm going all in! Flushes are strong hands, esp when HU. If he has a better hand, congratulations. I can see arguments for just calling based on the betting patterns and the fact that we will only have $250K left if he calls & wins. I would also agree with thoughts that he may only call with a better hand. He made a strong bet & to come over the top of that we basically have to
  15. Q high flush is a strong hand, esp HU. I push here. If I do have the best hand, I want to end this tourney now, not give him any chance to rush & make a comeback. I say if you have a hand bet it. If he happens to have a better hand, good for him, now we have some work to do to mount the comeback. I don't think you ever want to miss an opportunity to win it all & I think we have that here.
