Lol I swore he was favoring different legs but couldn't find the remote at the time to rewind and check. God that guy is a douche. Being in the west we never got to see him much. The 21 goals is good but no where near tops. How is it possible to get only 9 assists 354 nhl players had more regulation assists then him. I used to be a fan, but he is selfish. Doesn't pass, doesn't back check and only out for himself. Only Steve Ott and Alex Edler had worse plus minus. It's not the greatest stat but it tells a story on his game. I'm hardly an Ovechkin apologist but blaming the firing of the coach on him is brutal. You mentioned that plus/minus is a useless stat, and I stand with that. It doesn't tell you anything at all. Get better defensively is what he can do. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I get to watch Toews and Hossa play a very solid defensive and offensive game when both could use the excuse of being a "goal scorer" and getting a free pass. He should play to his strengths, and he should have a coach and GM that acknowledge that and build around it, both with the proper personnel and the appropriate system. But more to the point that Chris made 50 goals is nice, but you can't win with him with the year he had . But 5 on 5 it was 21. And a lot of those were in the beginning of the year. Sure impressive still but the rest of his game is so bad that he had one if the weirdest statistical seasons in history. He doesn't like coaches that preach defence, when given free reign to play his game it's not effective. If he's truly a star, playing a great all around game and making your teammates better is a must. Dave said it best....Toews. I'd take Toews every day over Ovechkin, you cant win with a guy like that. Hell, Id rather have 20 guys ahead of him, ie Getzlaf, Bergeron, Datsyuk, Kopitar, Krejci.....
