i'm quitting smoking.

What, are you too lazy to follow though on a decision? You started smoking for a reason. And now you're quitting because you ran out one night. You are one lazy person. Quit Poker.P.S. This thread should really be in the 'Off-Topic' area.

Good luck Smash from someone who quit the habit.Anecdote: I quit more than 10 years ago, when I found out I was pregnant with my oldest son. Having a higher purpose was certainly helpful. When he was about 6 weeks old, I went out for a drink with a friend who smoked and thought, "I haven't had a smoke for many months, just 1 couldn't hurt. " In two months, I was back to 2 packs a day. I quit again (both times cold turkey) a few months before my son turned 2 because I didn't want him to see his mommy as a smoker. This time it stuck. I didn't touch a cigarette for 6 YEARS. The first 2 years were hell. The first few months of course were the worst, but the urges were there for a long time.I know that sounds discouraging, but I say it to let you know that it can be done. Stay Strong. Now, I can actually have a cigarette and not go back to it full time. I probably smoke a pack per year. Just when at the nudey bar, or maybe the casino. My husband hates it, so I try not to do it in front of him. ADVICE: Smoking addiction is like alcoholism for the first few years or so. Alcoholics can't have just 1 drink. You probably won't be able to have just 1 cigarette.Hang in there,Nikki

i am curious to where the supporters of chewing tobacco get their facts??i am not advocating smoking as being healthy at all but chewing is worse imo...i think if you smoke for 30 years you could have serious problems but if you have dip in your mouth for 30 years you wont have any gums..i remember a kid from highschool who used dip and now has no teeth bec his gums are gone  do know they put tiny pieces of shredded glass in dip so that your gums can be cut open and the tobacco enter your bloodstream that much quicker... YUMMY!!on a personal unhealthy note,,,i have to work on reducing my herbal intake and i am hoping an upcoming move will provide the inspiration..

Glass?? Ewwww. I tried chew once (when I was a smoker) on the advice of my boss, who chewed at work instead of smoking. It had always seemed disgusting to me, but I'll try almost anything once. The taste was indescribably horrible. The spitting into the cup is a real turn-off.Nikki

jay IS the man. 8) Anyway, I quit smoking almost 3 years ago and quit drinking soon after. It gets easier as time goes by. I'd say take a walk when you want a smoke.... but since you're really lazy, maybe you should just roll over. It might distract you from wanting a cigarette for a minute.

i tryed it once as well,,,i was 16 and working in k-mart and wanted to be cool...instead i ended up in the employee lounge dizzy and throwing up for 2 hoursalmost as cool as when i decided to start smoking cigars while mowing the lawn one day when my parents werent home in the 90 degree heat...i ended up in the house throwing up and passed out but never smoked a cigar again

i found a nicotine patch at a friends house once and licked it for a few minutes.... that was cool.
your doctor might disagree
he always does... that pansy
Holy crap! Post of the wee, hands down...Smash, good luck quitting... I can't believe some dumbass was trying to talk you into chew... it's disgusting... to be healthy you just have to keep a jar with you and fill it with black tar spit... it's totally harmless... besides cancer sometimes... but that's rare... P.S. Haha on the "slop to Nascar tee-shirts and trucker hats..." comment...Aneurysm, you so crazy...

I stopped smoking two years ago... ZYBAN! Those little pills really worked. Took them for two and a half months. WHat is great about them is that they do want you to smoke when you are taking them. So no pressure like with the patches to reduce smoking while trying the treatment. With Zyban your addiction goes away slowly without any pressure of stopping right away.Goold luck smash.

Yea, the vivid dreams you have while on the patch are pretty friggin intense. I tried to quit recently with the nicorette gum, and I couldnt take it anymore, the gun tasted like i was lickin a battery, and my jaws were swollen. The patch leaves red spots on my arms, and ultimatly burn marks for some reason. But I need to quit badly .... it hurts to breath when I wake up and try to smoke lol .. just out of curiosity , any of the big name pro's smoke?
The nicoderm CQ patch is just awful! Crazy intense dreams, chemical burn on your skin and it also made me feel anxious and spun out. I tried the generic walgreens patch and it rocks. No burning, itching, vivid dreams, anxious speedy feeling and it also costs quite a bit less than the nicoderm CQ patch. It just takes away the craving for a cigarette, I like it plain and simple like that.I saw Scotty Nguyen and John Myung smoking at Bay 101 and a few others as well. I think Evelyn Ng smokes, but not completely sure.

I've got friends who dip to quit smoking. It seems to work for them. If anyone doesn't like the idea of chewing fiber glass, which is totally understandable, there are products that don't have that. Get some Beechnut; it is pretty much just cut up tobbaco leaves in and comes in a pouch and is a lot less intense than Skoal or any of those brands that are shredded super fine and come in the tin and have the fiberglass. I think there's also some stuff that you can get that comes in a small paper or cloth bag that you put in your mouth so that the tobacco doesn't even touch your mouth. In any event, its all bad for you but I'd say chewing is better than smoking. My grandpa quit cold turkey after like 40 or 50 years of smoking and hasn't smoked since. He was pretty much laid up in bed for the first week trying to get through the withdrawl, though.

By the way, chewing makes me nauseous. Chewing hits you with a lot more nicotine than a cigarette does. It will definitely help you quit smoking, but you'll still be addicted to nicotene.
the little pouches, bandits, still tear your lip upand i never had beech nut, but i love red man... it tases like raisins
