Someone Explain This To Me

When i first read i thought i had the complete wrong concept and thought that DN was playing and ''took a walk with them'' meant beat them for their chips, but obviously that wasnt the case.Maybe they both had an emergency, but they could just explain that.Marked card, very interesting.....Publicity stunt, yeah, seems very realistica 'settlement', nah i dont think so. theres isnt settlements in any other tournaments.TWO players walk away coz theyre short stacked in a big tournament broadcasted on TV, doubt it. Maybe one moody person, but im sure they would have fought on with a short stack and enjoyed the remainder of the experience (which was quite big, tv, possibly their favourite poker player there, staying as to not look stupid or mean etc.)I dunno, very weird, but im gona go with publicity stuntAlso, in these reality tv shows, shows that show real life people, (but not just specifically a reality tv show, ie its more of a poker show than reality tv show) like american idol, often have weird mis haps

The old guy was pulling a Sam Farha and sleeping at the Final Table, which just wouldn't look good for a promotional tournament that is going to be aired on television. Its one thing when its the WSOP Final Table and it just happened to occur during a pretty large hand, but that just wasn't the case here.

As a frequent reader I am SEVERELY disturbed by the lack of an explanation. With as much complaining as Mr. Negreanu has done in the past about the integrity of tournaments (i.e. the TOC and that stupid country vs country tourney) you would think he would want to make sure everything is on the up and up. "Taking a walk" and not returning is very shady, something I never would associate with Daniel. If there was cheating involved and the cheating allowed someone else besides the person cheating to benefit then this whole thing was a damn farce. I'd be willing to bet that its all part of the "mystery" surrounding the show, but at least let us know that. For right now I'm just gonna assume the whole thing was a fixed load of bull until further notice. Hell hes got millions of dollars he doesnt care if he has our respect.

He's said in countless threads and his blog that he will address this issue when he's able to. Saying that Daniel doesn't care if he has our respect is quite possibly the most asinine thing I've ever heard on this forum. He is very down to earth and is the first to stop and talk with his fans and give autographs. He wouldn't just blow people off intentionally. I suggest you wait until the tv broadcast and reserve judgement until then. After that, if you still this he doesn't care because he's rich, then by all means have at. But don't make outlandish claims just because you can. Show some respect for a guy that gave everyone on this forum an opportunity of a lifetime. I don't see Phil Gordon, Phil Hellmuth, Sammy Farha, or Freddy Deeb offering their fans a chance like what DN offered these ten players. (Not that they wouldn't, but they haven't yet) just relax dude and I'm sure you'll be pacified when the final explanation does come out later in June.

I am a "veteran" of this forum, if you will, and I could care less about this entire Protege thing here........so I don't feel it necessary to get an "explanation" about what happened......so until we hear PROOF or something concrete about DN doing something a little "dirty" or whatever...we're not just gonna go all nuts about it. Let's wait until the truth is revealed.

Please do not use quotes on the word dirty as I did not accuse DN at ALL. And I did NOT use the word dirty.I think CFINN has some good points. But i do feel that Daniel should release a statment that at least states there will be more details to come. of course we are doing a great job of building exposure to the issue so that is probably the point behind the whole thing..........."catch the protege final table and finaly see what the hell happened to Jerry and that other donk".

I agree. There is no way daniel has the "too rich for you" attitude.However, please show me where the "countless threads and blogs" are that he has mentioned this in. I know he mentioned the event in his recent blog but he did NOT say he would comment on it later.Thanks

I do have to say that I am VERY surprised at the long time forum members for their lack of interest in knowing the reasoning behind someone being eleminated from a promotional tournament with SOOOO much on the line without actually losing. You would think that FCP would be concerned of their reputation and would want this cleared publicly. Doesn't it make you a little nervous about the other promotions? What if someone qualifies for the WSOP promotion but then they all of a sudden "went on a walk". I really expected more reaction from the members here. I also expected a better explanation from DN. Even if the specifics are not discussed you could very easily reafirm that the integrity of the game was still strong and that all details will be announced later. Even that is better than what we were handed.Just a thought.
