liveactiononly 0
Well i live here in vegas and have decided to start playing no limit here since there is a lot of action and a lot of money to be made in the bellagio's 2-5 blinds 200 buyin no limit game. Yesterday was my birthday, yes the big 18 for me, and i went and tryed it out. Yes my bankroll is big enough to play the game, i am sitting on plenty of cash i have made over the past 6 months playing in live games. Yesterday i cashed out the game with 1300(1100 profit) and today i cashed another 1025(825 profit). I know it is the early going in me trying out the game but it cant hurt to do well in the first two times i have played in this game. Just wanted to post this and see what your thoughts were on low limit no limit games. later[/i]

nopantsdance 0
You can play at 18 in vegas?as long as you don't look like a fetus, you can play anywhere in vegas. i don't know why he mentioned he turned 18 since it had no relevance to his story, but the legal gambling age is 21. littlejohnny1 0
You MUST be 21 to gamble anywhere that alcohol is served.
littlejohnny1 0
I must admit i am a very young looking 24. I look 18 at the oldest. The poker rooms (at least in tunica) are the places you are least likely to get the old id check. Keep the good run going!
liveactiononly 0
i was just posting that it was my birthday for the sake of saying it was my brithday....sorry if that confused some of you guys.
Sullyarmy 0
that's awesome dude...the more u play there the more they will see you and leave you alone...so once you get in good with dealers and what not...your golden say whats up to all the people in there so they can say "yea he's always in here" really make sure people that work there rememmber you when they see you playing...just an idea to cover your ass
liveactiononly 0
yeah i am already on a first name basis with ralph...one of the floorment that works there so its going fine. I have been playing 15-30 at the bellagio for the past 3 weeks since i moved out here. I really like their cardroom and the fact that you can see the pros just a couple of tables away. I am going to get in the 10-20 blind no limit game there just to try it out. I dont think my bankroll is quite big enough for it but i should live through a couple of sessions. Just to clarify i am sitting on just over 10k as a bankroll. What do you guys think about the big no limit game. Should i or shouldnt i?
littlejohnny1 0
I dont know how much truth there is too this, but I heard that Phil Ivey used to go play when he was like 17. He walked in the door when he turned 21 and told everyone it was his 21st bday i bet the casino workers were pretty stuned when they found out. They can get in a good bit of trouble. liveactiononly 0
yeah ivey said that in a cardplayer article i think. He said he walked up to the desk and was like "hi, my name is phil" and they said "but i thought you were john" and he was like "no my name is phil i just turned 21" lol that would be pretty funny though
KDawgCometh 2
the casinos care a lot more if you try to underage in the pit and not the poker rooms. I know of people who do this all the time in AC, they just go there for the poker and usually don't run into any trouble.Remeber the poker rooms don't generate that much for the casino so they have them there to get people to buy drinks and go spend thier winnings in the pit
Pupsta 0
You MUST be 21 to gamble anywhere that alcohol is served. That's actually not true...at the hard rock casino in tampa, you have to be 18 to get in and gamble, but they serve alcohol at the bar and at the tables. TheIceman05 0
Man, I'd stay away from that bigger game for now... you can get absolutely WIPED in two bad sessions. You've got ten grand, which is plenty for a 200 max game... But you don't want to be understacked at one of the big games.I watch the greektown game around here all the time, and I see guys bullying the table with like 5000 in front of them. Even the 1000 "short stacks" can't play right because the big stacks, correctly, make it too expensive to play by blasting and reblasting, getting the best of the shorter stacks sooner or later. Even if you're good enough, I'd work that 10K up until you can do the same. Besides, if you make 50 bucks an hour playing the 200 max game, are you really gonna be too upset? Don't get greedy son!Jealous as ****,Ice
liveactiononly 0
I think i am probably going to stick to the lower no limit games and my usual 15-30 game for a while until i feel comfortable in the higher no limit game. i am not really worried about the money as much as i want to improve my poker game. I just feel like if i really want to test my game then why not test it agaisnt the best players i can afford to play against. I dont know the quality of play at the 1k buy in no limit game but i assume that it is higher than the lower limits. i just want to wait until i have enough money in my bankroll so that i feel comfortable in a big game and am not playing with "scared money". Thanks for the responses so far. Also, both of my last two sessions have been 5 hour sessions. I like to cut my sessions a little short just to insure that i dont loose my focus. I am at this point making a very nice hourly wage in the low limit no limit games. but it is still way too early to tell.
