MikePatrick 0
Hey guys.A friend of mine and I are working on a TV project called "The Great Canadian Poker Tournament".The premise is simlar to that of the Degree poker challenge, and to a lesser extent, the Ultimatebet.com challenge (basically, because it's predominantly amateurs that are participating).A pilot has been put together and it's in the process of being pitched to various networks. If you'd be so cool as to take the time to check out the website, and the preview trailer (which is basically a montage of the pilot), any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated.www.greatcdn.comThanks in advance,Mike

tallypie 0
The website, along with the trailer both look great Mike. To be honest, I was expecting your typical cheesy "made in Canada" look and feel when I clicked on your link but I was very impressed. One thing though, when will the online enrollment form be available? The link 'How to Participate' currently has no info other than a note stating "Please be patient as the flop is slowly revealed". I live in the GTA and I am very interested in participating in this. Good luck with the Network negotiations!
angryman 0
Production value looks great. I already like it better than any TV tournament with Jesse May involved. But what's your angle? Is it just like every other TV tournament except the added excitement of... being Canadian? This might be enough if someone is looking to fill up their CanCon quota, but I would like to see more of a differentiator. If that babe in the preview is any indicator (the young asian one, not the granny), maybe you intend to make it the raunchiest poker show on TV. Or maybe the winner will lead a Canadian delegation to the WSOP next year. Or win a case of beer for every pound of body weight. Or Randy Bachman will indian leg wrestle the winner for double or nothing. Just some ideas.
PocketZeus 0
It looks like a good idea and a solid production. You need to get a smokin hot dealer though, so people clicking by the show will stop even if they don't don't anything about poker, because every one loves smokin girls. You also need to let me go on the show, so I can add some spice too it for you. I will trash talk and bust some jokes out to help the rates. Win-Win for everyone.
GreyBeard 0
Mike: Trailer looks good...how about some more info.... Is it just 1 tourny or a series.( season ) Is your company public or privately heldAnd why didn't we have a chance to design your logo......lol

Dweebles 0
I remember seeing this a few months ago, I believe the tournaments have already been played? This summer? Not sure, my memory is terribleThe preview looks awesome
longdistance 0
Why no Quebec?ohya, quebec sucks:(
Nitro 0
The preview does look awesome!!
UglyJimStudly 0
Why no Quebec?IIRC, Quebec has some really goofy laws governing contests and lotteries - lots of promotions don't extend to Quebec as a result.OP: Nice little promo, but there's not much "there" there IYKWIMAITYD. From your talk of a pilot in the can, I take it this tournament has already been played somewhere? Too bad, because I think the best chance for the concept to have some legs is later this year, if the Degree Poker TV show goes over well. If that gets decent ratings, then various cable sports stations might well become interested in putting on a similar show, and your production values look pretty decent. budica 0
Would this be a buy in or invitational? Of course, if it's invite I think that any one at FCP should get in automaticaly. (hint hint)
MikePatrick 0
Hey guys thanks for all the input.I'll be talking to the producer within the next couple days to get further info.As far as I know, they're waiting until the show gets picked up before holding anymore tournies. They just had 1 invitation based table to shoot the pilot.I believe the signup process will be similar to that of the degree tourney.Other stuff..The asian girl was used as the dealer when it gets to heads up. She's refered to as "the vixen". Pretty lame I think, but whatever.RT, once I've talked to the producer, I'll PM you with info. I would definitely like to talk to you about this. All the best FCP, and I'll try to convince them to get a new logo that you guys can design. Winner gets to play me heads up, along with a series of PS2 NHL, Madden and MVP Baseball for 5 bucks a game!! 8) Mike
Eclipse17 0
do we sign up online or in person?if it's in person, can FCP have VIP passes so we don't have to line up?
MikePatrick 0
Once we get the green light for the tournies, you guys will be the first to know how to get in, and if I can pull strings, well...
