I layed down pocket aces preflop because it was the first hand of the tournament and 3 people went all in in front of me.Post flop I layed down a nut-flush to a paired board.
Is this the correct play? I've always argued with friends about this. On one hand, you have the highest percentage to win the hand and it would put you in great chip position immediately. On the other hand, you are still below 50% to win, and could make an early exit. What do you all think?

It really doesnt matter if you make an early exit, you should be playing to win from hand 1. And three people going all in on the first hand sounds like either a $1 SnG or a demo game. No offense

Let's assume it was a real tournament with a decent buy-in. Would it be playing to win if you get all your money in on the first hand with only a 35-40% chance of winning the hand?

You cant say that cause there is such a slim chance of that happening on the first hand. And IF the 1/999999999999..... time came up yes I would call.

Top set to a three flush board.Pocket queens pre-flop.I folded AA last night when the board came 7KK. Got check raised almost half my stack. Thought for a while, then mucked my aces face up and said: "show some respect." and He shows me K :D T :) .Everyone was amazed. Hahahahaha. Having said that, I tripled my money by 2:00am.

No offense, but that last one woulda been pretty easy for about 80% of players

"Show me some respect" Is that all you need to say to get people to show their hands these days? Then again, I don't play online, just at a local Arizona casino with a bunch of cowboys. If I said that I think they would still be laughing about it ten hands later.

ah, that explains it. if my friends drink enough they'll show their hands before the betting is over.

A guy went all in in first position, I folded AQ.Not to be an ass, and I realize you think I'm picking on you and everything....but that's not a big laydown. That should be an automatic laydown to an early positon all in unless you're playing blind people.

I laid down an Ace high full house to quads once.I also laid down an ace high full house to a set of 8's once. Both in NL.After the second one I realized how much money big laydowns cost people and just started calling when I was 50/50 on what to do.

KK postflop to a joker that played A3 to my raise preflop. ON the turn i laid down an Ace high flush to a paired board, however, it wasn't that hard since he was betting like he had a set until the turn made my flush and his boat.

I think folding is crazy. Even if your win % drops, it's still higher than everyone else, and you have a chance to quadruple up on the first hand... you have the best hand so you have to call.

I just layed down a full house last night.. I had 56s in late positions, 5's had been on fire all night.. Flop comes 556. Three people bet into me and I cap it. All of them call. Rag on the turn everyone checks to me, I open. Two callers. River comes 6. Two raises to me, I fold, they split the pot with 6's over 5's.

I dont get it, unless that rag was above a six there was no way you were beat. They only thing that would pretty much beat you is quads but you have a 5 and a 6 so thats not possible. Why did you fold.

Geh.. yeah.. I mis-remembered it. By a lot.. :D I didn't have a six. I was paired up another way.. On the turn I think.. Can't remember exactly right now. I've had a bout 4 hours a sleep in the last 40.
