Detroit/windsor Casinos

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I just got tickets to the Bears and Lions game in January and we're going a day early to go to the casinos. Would it be worth getting a passport to go to the Windsor casinos or are Detroit's fine? I've heard some good things about Windsor's night life as well, but I'd rather save the passport money unless Detroit casinos are as shitty as the rest of the city. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Every large city has its "shitty" areas. The areas around the casinos and Ford Field (which is walking distance from Greektown Casino) have decent night life. Some nice little bars in the area. If you want the dance club, rave type entertainment I'd recommend going to Windsor. Also, totally nude strip bars that serve booze are over there as well.

MGM Grand Detroit is a great property. Easily the most "Vegas-like" property I've been to outside of Vegas. The Poker Room is good. But lately I've really been annoyed by the dealers. Motor City Casino is a very nice overall casino. Biggest Poker Room of the 3 Detroit Casinos and busiest. The action is more "predictable" than MGM. Greektown is most easily accessible because of proximity to the People Mover (elevated tram) and Stadiums. But is also the most tired and smoky of the three Poker Rooms.Haven't been to Caesars Windsor in a very long time because the exchange rate (which has gotten a little better) paired with the PITA of crossing the border made it simply not worth the effort.Feel free to ask any additional questions.

Motor City Casino has a solid poker room... lots of games running, free self-serve soft drinks, sandwiches and other snacks to players, and is well run. Greektown Casino is nice, but the poker room there is absolutely awful in my opinion. It's super smokey, the table felts are way run down, and you get yelled at for even looking at your phone while seated at the table. Also, when I was there about a month ago, they were starting a tournament and kicked everybody off the cash game table I was playing on (either to make room for it or because there weren't enough dealers... not sure) and put everyone on a list for the other table. How ridiculous is that?Windsor is lots of fun and the above mentioned strip clubs are definitely tops for the area. But getting across the border is a pretty big pain now. There are lots of cool bars/clubs in Detroit. Just depends on what kind of spot you're looking for.

Windsor poker room is pretty decent, as for Michigan casino's Soaring Eagle my fav but it's not in the Detroit area.

def hit up motorcity and def go to old shillelagh its a great bar with 3 floors and a live band
I concur with Old Shillelagh. I would also recommend Bazooki's. MotorCity is the more gangsta of the three casinos. It seems at any time an unsanctioned, ghetto dice game may spring up in the corner of that place.

Greektown has the softest cash games, Windsor has the hotter girls.
that's only cause i'm here.i haven't been to detroit casinos cause of the passport bs, not to mention, windsor's poker room is pretty ok. last few times i was there they spread mostly NL games (i think they had 1 3/6 lhe table going) and it's usually pretty soft.let me know if you do come to windsor....i haven't been on a buddy's run in a while. I'll take a couple of half-bakes

Since Michigan people will be reading this, just an FYI that tomorrow Norm MacDonald will be doing some stand-up at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. I've seen him once before and it was hands down the best stand-up I've ever seen. Tix are $30 and can get purchased at their website. Maybe I'll see ya there!Sorry for the hijack, didn't feel like making a new thread :club:
