Worthwhile Canadian Initiative

Recommended Posts

An interesting article highlighting a few things that Canadians do/have better than the US...And ways the US can learn.Example:"Its health-care system is cheaper than America's by far(accounting for 9.7 percent of GDP, versus 15.2 percent here), and yet does better on all majorindexes."

I don't recall seeing anybody argue our government is good....just various levels of bad.The US is a great country INSPITE of the government, not because of it. This particular band of thieves is just the latest.Listen I love Canada...good people, they like their beer, like to gamble but lets stop the stupid comparisions. You are the little brother. You do a nice job in reserve, thank-you...you are kind of like Scottie Pippen, real good player but with out Jordan....well not so much.

I mean it's not like we have resources to offer the rest of the world outside the U.S.A. This notion that we "need' you as a big brother or our country would go to shit is pure garbage.

yes, the US is a great country, but like any country, there's room for improvement. because the US is the 'superpower' of the world its mistakes/negatives are magnified.i don't think it's stupid to point out ways the US system can improve, just like it is not stupid to to point out how Pip- i mean canada, can improve. all kidding aside, we do not look at ourselves as a 'little brother' to the US. the US needs canada, we are its biggest trading partner by far. it is a relationship where both parties do well. sure, there are disagreements, i.e. softwood lumbar, but for the most part we get along as well as any 2 countries do.and yes, we love our beer, love to gamble, and love to puff!

lololol. yeah, 18 weeks average to see an inferior specialist to what you could find in the US after being referred sounds ****ing fantastic. these comparisons tilt me so much. we're different countries that value different things that have different strengths and weaknesses.

the 18 weeks is not always true it depends what part of the country your in, and if it's deem an emergency you get seen much quicker. I worked in your medicial system and I will take the Canadian system any day over it. You are right it's 2 different countries each with different values, strenghts and weaknesses. You state Inferior specialist who are you to state that you have the better specialists. We do have some of the world's most respected physicans in there fields. My GI specialist Dr. Mehran Anvari also works for NASA and is known though out the world for Tele-Robotic surgery. My Respiralogist Dr. Fredrick Hargreave invented the breathing tests that provides the diagnosis of asthma as well as invented the areochamber tube which increases inhalations of puffer medications to the lungs that is used world wide. So we just don't have inferior physicans as you state. Granted we may not have everything that some rich private hospitals have, but we don't also turn people away at our doors. Sometimes your statements tilt me, because your country is no better than mine. We are equal and the same just runned differently.

We each have areas of that we excel in, thats why our countries get along so well we borrow and use those needs when it's appropiate. We are also there in time of emergencies (911, Katrina) and and time of aid (Iraq,Afgan). That's what neigbours are for. :club:
