antistuff 0
this was in 8 game. players are very loose, some of them might have never played plo before. do i want to bet out and bloat this pot oop when unless the board pairs i am not going to be the happiest camper with any river? if somebody bets i check raise the pot and im fine playing a big pot here hu. what i dont want is to bet out, get two (or more callers) and then hate half the turn cards int the deck. then even the cards i like i bet out on and im gonna have a tough decision on most rivers. or should i grow a pair and bet?Poker StarsPot Limit Omaha Ring gameBlinds: $0.25/$0.506 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: $35.10UTG+1: $40.10CO: $39.25Button: $47.40Hero: $97.50BB: $10Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with Q Q 7 T UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, Button calls, Hero calls, BB checks.Flop: 5 6 Q ($2.5, 5 players)Hero checks

ChuckP 0
Ugly flop?? Gin flop more like it. PotI don't know what else you are looking for on the flop. A rainbow flop with top set. Bet it out and try not to get sucked out on. That is what Omaha is about.
SGFULTON83 0
You have double anyone else at the table and you have a pair, some connectors and suited pre-flop so why no raise pre-flop? I raise to about 1.50 to put more money in the pot so when I flop top set I can be able to bet pot into a much bigger pot and chase out the weak draws. As played you should pot it and be careful with any callers if the straight card hits the turn or river since they could have limped with anything here.
bdc30 0
Potting this type of hand preflop in a 5 way pot from the small blind sucks, imo.
SGFULTON83 0
Potting this type of hand preflop in a 5 way pot from the small blind sucks, imo.Who said to pot it pre-flop?
bdc30 0
nitpicking. I'm not raising this preflop from the small blind in to a 5 way pot. However, if you WERE to raise it, potting would be your best option, hoping to force out some of the limpers. Raising it to 1.5 is not going to get rid of anyone, you're only going to bloat a pot that's still going to be multi-way with you in the absolute worst possible position postflop.Limp>Raise Pot>Fold>>>>Raise to 1.
SGFULTON83 0
But shouldn't you want to build a pot so you can bet more when you do hit top set? I don't play as much Omaha but I would be trying to do this and I am willing to listen to others opinions so I can get better.
bdc30 0
You'll flop a set (approx) 1/8 times. Of those 1/8 times, you also have to consider there will be times that you won't have "top" set as well. Don't build big pots from out of position in pot limit omaha. I'd raise this hand from co or btn but certainly not from the sb.Read this link, an old post by Smasharoo on playing out of position.
SGFULTON83 0
Thanks for the insight, its appreciated. Let's say you have AA109 double suited aces, would you raise that hand in the small blind?
bdc30 0
yes, I'd be full potting that 98% of the time.
ahosang 0
The complete is fine IMO. Also, betting doesn't require 'a pair' as it's only 5bb to bet. Just bet the thing.
antistuff 0
i figured thats what all of you would say.however, i have 5 players to bet into. if two of them call here (for some reason i am guessing that on average two of them are going to call), one of them is almost certain to call by the river, and he is going to be able to put me to a very tough position unless the board pairs. to pull off a check raise here is much better i think. and if this checks through how much am i really giving up? meservery 0
I would pot most of the time, looking to get raised by players with the smaller sets or bad players with an over pair. What two non board-pairing cards can come that will still leave us with the nuts? bdc30 0
Look more closely.I think they mean by the river. No combo of two non-board-pairing cards can fall where there isn't some type of straight that can be made.

bdc30 0
Please show me how we can have the nuts with two non board pairing cards. We have QQT7, flop is Q56. Can't be any of 23456789Q. All that leaves is AKJT and any two of those unpaired puts a broadway straight out. Yes we can make a backdoor straight with exactly 89 as last two cards, but that's not the nuts either. fitzinabox 0
preflop is good, i would not raise that either in that positon. I like the check as well with the intentions of check raising pot obv. Leading out is fine also.
